How about it? Just for the rest of this Christmas week...
Tomorrow is Christmas eve, then Christmas day. This is a time for me, my friends and family to be NICE to one another and enjoy this time of year. To my friends and not so friendly friends here on these Stratics forums, I am asking for a few days of "niceness."
I read Stratics forums because there is a LOT of useful information here, shared by our fellow players and visiting developers. But sometimes it gets to be a drag reading so many negative posts. The same thing in most cases could have been said without going negative.
So, here is my Christmas list for Stratics (please, feel free to add your own):
No posts attacking another player. Be constructive in your criticism. Sometimes we all say things we shouldn't or word our posts so they sound worse than we meant them to. It's OKAY to same I am wrong or sorry. If I've offended anyone by something I've posted, I'm sorry.
No posts saying, "DEVS I DEMAND AN ANSWER!" They answer to us all, and would most likely respond if they feel so inclined, not because you demanded it, but because they felt it necessary. Irritating them doesn't really help.
No posts saying how the Developers, EA/Mythic, GM's or whoever doesn't care, are stupid or whatever and however many variations on that theme. They are people too, and they have bosses to answer too, and can't always give us exactly what we want how we want. I am not always happy with things in UO, but I am happy to still be playing UO after all these years, and want to thank them for that.
There are bugs in the KR client. There are bugs in the 2D client. There are bugs in MS Windows XP, Vista, 98, ME, Bob and every other program out there... yes, even Linux. Report the bugs through proper channels first, then let the rest of us know... constructively. My experience is that MOST bugs are players misunderstanding of the game mechanics, but some bugs are real. A well thought out posting of the bug gets more respect than some maniacal rant, though both post contain the same information.
No posting and reposting of the same thing over every day. We all experience lag... I've read most of the posts about over powered dragons, and speedhacks, and cheats... add to the existing ones instead of starting new ones every day. We get it already.
And last of all, a very Merry Christmas to all of you and your family. May you have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!
If anyone is wanting a white Christmas and not getting the snow, we have over 100 inches so far! Here is the Christmas card that I sent out this year, taken in mid-November of my then 5 month old colt - Journey.
