Set out to scribe some scrolls for one of the weaker mages.

Got 100 blanks, and regged myself up.
EV, at gm, should be 50% chance of success...100 blanks later, I have 29 EV scrolls?

Guess I am gonna have to go dig out the talismans, my understanding was, they would let ya beat the odds, but it looks like ya gotta have em to be able to break even?

I feel for ya. I got tired of the 8th circle spells so took up quite a bit of a beetle's carrying weight over a whole mess of trips to Doom to bring back the 8th circle scrolls the DF drops. I've now got over 500 of each one, so am pretty much set for those for the next couple of years. It was definitely worth the time spent collecting them.

Also, try to pick up an Inscription bonus talisman in Heartwood or off a creature. That will give you another 11%-30% to your chance.
