Money, money, money

I just noticed something that surprised me in EA-Land, there are far more visitors in skill lots then there are in money lots right now.

So I did a little digging and totalled up the hours of the top 12 in both categories.

The top 12 houses in the money category total 3292 hours
The top 12 houses in skills category total 4848 hours

Thats a wapping difference of 1556 hours in favour of skills.

Of those money houses in the top 12 currently open, only a few have over 20 sims in them, in comparison to skill houses which seem to have a lot more.

I know that payouts have been reduced, but we still need to earn money and with so many sims moving from the old cities or now being merged, I'd have expected that money houses would be busier.

Is this just a timing thing? If I log back in in 5 hours or so, would I see the money houses bursting at the seams with visitors? Or is everyone busy making money via stores and job tracks?

How are you earning your money? Risking life and limb at the robot factory? Wandering around with barely a [insert new name for simoleans here] to your name? Making a tidy sum as a custom content designer? Or have you already made enough to sit back and retire?

(if the answer to the last one is yes, hey there, how you doing?
)

To make money I usually go to a money house, and on the side I make and sell custom content. However I don't sell enough cc to make a huge profit, so I rely on both to get by.
My sim that was merged has a high title in the factory but I haven't made enough friends on that one to reactivate my job. Eventually I probably will.

I like to pizza and go to the restaurant job track... I don't waste my time on solo job objects like jamming. I want to dabble in CC but i haven't gotten to it yet.

I have a size 8 house in EA-Land that is fully furnished that I haven't been to since the first week or two of EA-Land. None of the roomies have been either. It was a skill house and the first few days we had a full house at almost all times. We got burnt out.

I have a size 8 house in EA-Land (via merge from JP) that is a pinata house. I haven't opened it yet because I don't feel like hosting. Someday I will.

I have another size 8 house which is currently in BF waiting to merge. It is a fully stocked store. I'll probably spend some time at it when it merges.

I don't really buy anything. I don't really need money. I have my $500 a week bonus. I don't even really spend that. I am in the process of getting each of my sims maxed in at least one skill. I don't know why, but it is my current goal.

Yes its hard to find a money house open with alot of sims in it. There is one boards house I really like and I've been getting about 40-50 a board so im not complaining. Before merges I used to open my own money house, but since I like to play with my IH sim who has lots of skill.

I also enjoy doing CC and I've sold a few pieces, once my store sim merges I should be doing more of that.

I guess between all my sims I've made enough to not stress about money at all so I hang out at money houses just cuz you can never have too much!

I just finished building/furnishing my new money house. I bought a property and resized to a 5 lot and built.....my mostest favorite thing to do! It costed me 47andsomeoddthousand simoleans. So yeah now I'm broke.

As I was popping into stores to furnish my house, which took me over a week because everyone was always AFK at the stores, I noticed that what it costed me to do my house I could have bought a St. Bernard! I always wanted one!

I think people are going to start seeing rares are becomming affordable if they put put their sim nose to the grindstone and start putting those skills to work! It doesn't take that long on a job track to make some good money, problem is most people would rather put their sim on a piano bench and do something else!

(by the way my house is all phones and only phones....I'm tired of everythingskillandmoneyhouses I think it's time to commit!)

In the beginning, there were a couple money houses that I went to, and there were usually 25 - 30 sims nearly the whole time they were open.
They're gone now.

Ive given up on single money objects and living on the edge as a bot factory worker - I have made a good sum of money there. Then inbetween I go make pizza - this is working for me.

However, then I go blow it all on CC and decorating my lot!

I have 3 sims in EA-Land with maxed body who would be very pleased to come and bash pinatas when you open.

Specialised money houses rock

It's hardly worth opening a money lot these days.

The pay is so low it isn't worth feeding the guests. With the cost of land, cost of building, cost of repairs, low pay, rude sims, cost of goods, no house/visitor bonus, I could go on....why bother?

Unfortunately I agree, it's not worth it to open a property. The costs are just too high. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy visiting other properties, I just hope everyone doesn't start thinking like me.

Geez, I love a good call house

I'm skilling and not moneying with my newbie sims. I don't have the time to commit to hosting, I don't know what I want to do with my sim life, and my skills are weak.

Maybe old-timers who have their main sims in non-merged cities are just biding their time right now, waiting for their power sims to come in and really clean-up at the moola? And maybe new-timers are getting the lay of the land and focusing on building an avatar up, bc sim life is expensive out there?

Just a guess

The VH shown today suffers from a glitch. The Top 100 lists were not updated for 4 days. Last Tuesday, total VH for the Top 100 for Money was 2772, Skill was 4052, and Stores 2826. Stores has been higher than Money since the owners can run multiple free accounts.

The ratio of skill to money has been holding steady since the production cities were shut.

I'm waiting until they fix things to make it worth it... honestly... I loved this game and stalking only fills up so much time. Making money is pretty boring to me unless there is a lively lot... which is rare... so its not worth my RL time to do it.
