Re: Monday 14 June, 8PM UK Time - Match 11 of the Europa Chicken League
Slightly smaller crowd than usual, mainly due to me being so late advertising this one I suspect, and it seems we may have clashed with some 'football' thing which probably didn't help....
PeckyBalboa vs Noir
With my usual level of skill, I reckoned this was a likely win for Pecky, since Noir lacked a little in skills and core stats. It started well for Pecky, but Noir was not content to let things go on that way. From the mid-point of the bout, Noir seemed to be blocking almost all Pecky's attacks, and a few short flurries of hits later Noir emerged the winner!
Sky vs Cyanide
Current leader up against a relative newcomer, despite a lack of experience Sky certainly has the core stats and the skills to be a top-rank fighter. Cyanide was a bit taken aback by Sky's rapid assault, but fought back hard and things became very close indeed. Finally, Sky wore out Cyanide's defence and got in the killer blow, although it was so close one more hit from Cyanide would have reversed the outcome.
Flash vs SpareUno
Two identical coloured birds, both the fairly rare 'mix' of yellows and purples, good thing they all wear name badges or this bout could have been confusing! Slight skill edge with Uno, slight stats advantage to Flash, it was likely to be a close fight but it could not have been closer.... by the end both health bars were entirely red, and SpareUno scraped in to victory with almost her last gasp. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to see the first match ever where both pets fell!
Mixer vs Noir
Usually we try avoid one bird having to fight twice, but we were a little short on competitors this week, and Noir seemed keen after her earlier victory, so as the best available match for Mixer she came back into the ring. There was a distinct skill advantage to Mixer, but Noir was way ahead on stats, usually skills are the best guide but despite a very good defence, Noir was hitting harder and gradually this told, Mixer got slower and Noir piled on the pressure to end up the winner.
Nari vs Lightning
Current second place holder Nari has a pretty good record in the arena, Lightning has not made many appearances but is a very strong bird who has a lot of potential. Things started fairly even, but Lightning landed some very heavy hits in a short burst, and a rather stunned Nari seemed unable to recover from that and gradually Lightning finished her off.
Sango vs Frosty
Identical skill, very slight edge on stats to Frosty, but she's been very variable in her performances, especially at the start of the season when she seemed unable to win. Sango certainly hit more, but for slightly less damage than Frosty per hit, and gradually Sango slowed as the damage mounted up - as with Noir and Mixer, the heavier hitter managed to beat down the faster fighter, and Frosty wore Sango down for another hard-fought win.
For the novelty match - another noisy one, Soba versus Udon, two fairly well trained bake kitsune. From giggling like lunatics on going in to the ring, constantly howling and throwing the noisiest spells they could, these two put up a very entertaining, if deafening, fight. Things looked to be going Udon's way, Soba turned the tables a bit with some well-timed healing and a sneaky poisoning of Udon, but it wasn't enough and with almost no health left Udon finally got in the winning bite.
And now the league table ...
6 : Cyanide.
5 : Nari, Frosty.
4 : Trinsic Steel.
3 : Spike, Shadow, Bernie, Lightning.
2 : Midnight, BlueBlaze, Spot, Trinsic Rose, PeckyBalboa, Sango, Nugget, Noir, Sky.
1 : Lime, ThrobbingGristle, SnotKlap, Cerulean, Flash, Moonfeather, Dryad, Eric, Fir, Mixer, Quicksilver, Silver, Camo, SpareUno.
Three way fight for the winning place, but a fair crowd of up and coming fighters ready for our next season, and we should have plenty of close matches for our final week of this season!
Next match - and season end - Monday 28 June, 8PM UK time at the O*T arena, where a winner will be crowned and prizes for the season given, in a slightly redecorated arena to celebrate the event!
