Put some more detail in your request... Yes, I mean tell us how you think the proposed forum would help the community, how it would be administered etc... The details, man. You are gonna have to try a lil harder to sell that.
When you bring items from one shard to another using transfer tokens.
When someone is doing a transfer to another shard they might have room to bring items along for other people.
This can be done using a normal "transfer token" or the VET reward "shard shields" to transfer a character from one shard to another.

Each shard has a forum for specific trades within the shard. The "Trader's Hall" has generally always been the place for x-shard trading (be it via token transfer, or via you give me there and I give you here cross-shard trades. The description of the forum is:
"A place to Trade Cross-Shard, get Price Checks, and Discuss Trade. If your trade consists of Multiple Shards, please use this forum instead of the other forums."
Is there really a need for another? Let us know your thoughts please.

He wants forum to UPS/Fedex Items across shards for players who need it. If I want to UPS/fedex something to great lakes from alt I check those forums. Thp is leaving ALT going to great lakes Ill pm him and see if he as room to bring stuff over for me. I think thats what he is asking for
mmmm whatever.... i jump across a few shards using the shard shield tokens and normally ask on europa board if anyne wants stuff moving between the shards i visit for free...normaly i get a small interest....and normally its after ive jumped...people missed the post... was simple request for a simple subforum were folks doing such a round robin shard shiled jump or indeed have payed for a transfer token in full could offer there free service or small fee service for others and get stuff they have on ''x shard'' to stuff they want on ''y shard'' to ultimately get stuff they want on ''z shard'' ....like i said prety sure it would be very well used.....whatever....

I just reviewed the prefixes for the Trader's Hall forum. There are Buying, Selling, Trading, Price Check, Auction, Discussion, and Sold. There is no specific prefix for Cross Shard transfers.
A specific Cross Shard / Shard Transfer option would allow us to filter on just those posts. A further expansion could also allow us to filter on "From" and "To" shards.
I do not claim to know how these changes can be implemented, but I do know that giving up on a suggestion absolutely does not help. This is a good suggestion, the Stratics Staff just wanted more details on your idea/vision of what it would be. They will figure out if it can be accommodated in an existing Forum or needs its own.
With so many forums already a new prefix would be much easier to accomodate than a new forum, however I'm not sure entirely how it would work. I can see a need for at least two new prefixes. Transfer Request and Transfer Offer?

At a minimum, it would be best to have a "Cross Shard" prefix to the Trader's Hall. The smart poster will put the FROM and TO and DATE in the title. This would give us a simple, single forum to search. However, I know that Stratics prefers not to settle for the minimum.
I am interested to read about @THP 's vision of this improvement.
Hmm, instead of a new forum, how about a thread for traders to post their forthcoming trips in or xshard requirements. Make a new thread each week or month as appropriate so it doesn't get too long.
If it was sticky in one of the current forums, it's going to get noticed and used much more IMHO.
Then if it turns out to be busy enough, that would be a better time to move to a new forum.

Whilst on the topic of new prefix I would close down all the separate shard trade sections and just have ALL trades under the traders hall. Just give the poster the prefix to select the shard they are buying/selling on.
At the moment each shard has its own separate trading section and then you have the traders hall. I used to post my items in the specific shard forum but found I had much better results posting in the traders hall and just writing what shard I wanted the item on within the post itself.
Also I have noticed people tend to post an item for sale in the traders hall, then post up again in the shard trade forums just linking to the one post.
It's basically two forums covering the same thing.

Is it? I have never posted in the trade hall, because the things I had for sale were never of sufficient value to consider transferring them. I therefore used the shard trade board.
I don't mean items to xfer, I mean any items for sale.
I found from my own experience items in the normal traders section got more eyeballs than when I posted in the dedicated shard forum.
yes, I understand that. But my feeling was that items in the Trade Hall were all high value, therefore of interest globally, rather than just on the shard where they resided.
I am glad you presented this idea. However, this is why I do not like this approach.

The sticky thread will grow more complex once the transfer participants use it t coordinate meet-ups and other transfer business. The format of the forums is beyond the need for this type of sticky thread (prefixes and sub-forums have set that precedent).

Would it be possible to have a Cross Shard prefixed thread auto-lock after a certain duration (maybe 2wks or 30 days)? The participants have most likely met back up by then, or they can take it to PMs.

theres numerous posts dotted around a lot of forums with people doing the free shard transfers or indeed with real transfer tokens....that just wanna help others with the unused space they have on the travels....unfortunately yes its open to some scamming...then again the holiday transfers have been plagued and indeed UO as been plagued with idiots and lowlife trying to get something for nothing....i myself have done several shard jumps and used other peoples shard jumps and everyone as always got there stuff back as intended.....just be sensible....and its easy...and enjoyable and im my case ...its free service.
I just thought it would be better if we had a place were all this shard movement can be put in one place rather than everyone looking through all the different shard posts and uohall and everywere else ....can get confusing.....one prefix- we sorted.......thankyou...xxx

Agreed. shard specific trade forums are out of date and no one really checks them anymore. no harm in keeping them up, but an X-shard forum would be very easy to check, and much more likely to be used. i know i would love it.
for now a "cross shard" prefix could suffice if creating a new forum proves to be difficult.
also, a suggestion for a sticky "DONT GET SCAMMED" as opportunists might utilize the the new forum as place to scam. you would think it was common sense not to give your stuff to someone without a trusted presence / reputation, but you would be surprised.
oki, suppose we do a trial period. I'll add two prefixes. 'Transfer Offer' and 'Transfer Request' - because I often see 'is anyone going' as well as 'does anyone want' threads. Poster should put in the thread title 'to' 'from' and 'when' and in the post itself all further information, including contact details (either icq/skype etc or PM)

I may be weighing in on this topic a bit late,but is even a prefix needed? A couple of weeks ago I moved a character from LS to Catskills. I posted a thread with the title "Lake Superior to Catskills" with the offer of bringing other players belongings with me. I didn't need to have a prefix or subforum to get the word out well enough. Isn't that what the shard forums are for anyway? Just my two cents.
How about, within the existing Shard Forums, a sub-section "Rides offered" and "Rides seeked" ?
When offering or seeking a ride the stratics user would need to mention the origin and destination shard for the ride and the time window (moreless) for when the ride can be offered or is needed...
Perhaps it might be possible to add like a "stars" system (feedback) from stratics users who have been happy from being helped with a ride and granting a "star" as positive feedback for the kind help received with a ride?
So, when we look up the profile of a given stratics' user we could see how many stars they have from positive feedback.....
We have added two new prefixes to the UO Trader's Hall forum for this purpose. I made a sample thread to try to show how it should be used.
