Missing Pets

I'm not sure if anyone can give a suggestion or advice. When Alt went down, I later log on my tamer, she was a ghost and my CU is no where to be found. It's not in the stable and I could not summon it. I was getting help from other players in gen chat, it appears others lost pets also during this time.

Does this mean my Cu is simply gone? My tamer was in Doom getting T maps, I'm thinking it was killed. It was black by the name of Cody. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Did you try to log out and back in to see if the pet comes to you? I know its a silly thing to ask but I have had to do it a few times to collect a few packies when a shard went down unexpectdly. Also does it still show on your slots? As a last resort you might call a GM and explain in a short statement that the recient shard drop your pet came up missing. He might just be in a corner of Doom.

Usually when that happens, the pet can not autostable because the shard went down so the pet is basically left standing where you were when the shard crashed.

Once the shard comes back up, the pet was probably killed quickly. The pet will usually start moving at that point - almost always in a straight line from where it was when the shard came back up. Wander around that area of Doom and you should find your pets ghost. Even though he is not showing in your follower slots - if you can find him in Doom, just 2x click him and he should relink to you and you can then res him. Of course - this is all assuming that he was a bonded pet.

When the shard came back up, how long was it until you logged back in? If a shard crashes and comes back up, often the pet is still in-game, though your character has been logged out. It can go wild if you are unable to log back in and recover it.

Thanks all.

My pet slot is stating zero. So, thinking I can assume it is no longer bonded.

Honestly I can't remember how long before I log back in on that tamer. I did go back to Doom, also a few other players went there attempting to help me. It was a small room, I have a marked rune right outside the door in Doom, the room where you get Tmaps.

Anyway thanks for the replies, I was just hoping someone could think of something I didn't. Just find another black Cu and rename it Cody. :)

Thanks again all.

Ok, if relogging and a pet summoning crystal don't work, go back to the place you were when you logged back in. Then it's a case of searching the whole of Doom for your pup. It's not uncommon for pets to simply wander off when stuff like this happens, so you should be able to find the cu again. But you will need to search the entire bottom level of Doom, because they tend to go as far as they can in one direction.

Good luck finding your pup :)

Oh and don't believe your follower count! It often goes to 0 at times like this, it doesn't mean your pet is gone forever, so don't give up until you've combed Doom. I've lost track of the times I've had 0 slots showing and my pet has been alive and well!

And, there was a situation years ago, of pets getting lost, and then not showing in follower slots. If the pet was a ghost, it could be saved (ghost pets tended to not lose loyalty), but after one of the publishes back then, if it didn't die, it would go wild.

In one case, before the fix to where "abandoned" live pets lost loyalty, I lost a giant beetle when an event telestormed me out of Trinsic, and my guildmates found my beetle ON TOP OF COVE MOUNTAIN SIX MONTHS LATER.

I managed to get close enough to it to where it responded when I called to it, recalled to Luna, and it came with me. I still have it to this day, though I transferred it from my Paladin to my Mage/Fisher.

So, don't give up hope.

I just thoroughly searched through Doom on Atlantic (Except for the Gauntlet area) and sadly, I did not see any player pets or ghosts of pets. I am afraid it is gone. :(

grrrrrrrrr

This should be straightforward for GMs to fix.

You get the object ID of the pet (every world-object has a unique number). If necessary, reference a backup of the server from when the pet was normal, but if there's a pet ball, it could be stored there. Then, find the thing. Move the pet or move yourself, whichever's easiest.

Every time this game fails to work in this sort of way, ppl should put in a ticket, and get pissed if nobody can help them.

It's not excusable for server maintenance/code malfunctions to take away unique, skill-trained pets from pet class characters.
