missing pet at Blackthorns

my daughter wanted to go hunting tonight, so after a quick run through shame with our tamers we decided to head over to Blackthorns Dungeon and have a go there.

she had her recently bonded Bake Kitsune's with her, shes new at taming and she bonded them a couple weeks ago, so far her first pets.
so as we are running in all out pets get put into the stable, my greater dragon and her 2 Bakes, when we get into the dungeon she states that her one Bake is gone.

i come over to her laptop and check.... sure enough, no Bake.
not in the stable, not outside, not at her house, not in shame, log out log in.... nowhere.
and it didnt un-bond as i have been watching her pets since she is a new tamer and it was wonderfully happy.

very devastating for a new player/tamer to loose her first bonded pet.

not overly impressed myself with such a ****ty code that pets would just disappear for no reason.

by chance did you connect it to a pet summoning globe? I keep all my pets connected to them just incase! aometimes if you log out and back in the pet will appear beside you? just a couple thing to try

Go there with different pet arrangements. Never lost any pets. Even the unbounded have been found after getting knocked off.

Sometimes when your stable is full (or other reasons?) the pet is placed in the actual physical stable outside of Blackthorn's castle just South of the bridge (next to the mage shop).
Check there.

came in and caught up on reading some posts, decided id log into my daughters account and go have a look for the Bake one last time. its been like 3 hours since she went to bed. so i recalled to Blackthorns Castle off the rune my daughter had in her runebook which is actually the Royal Music Conservatory thinking that id look in the stable there like Flutter said then barring that id go run back into Blackthorns and have a look around and look what i see hidden off in the corner of the courtyard!

the Bake!

so i dont do anything.... i watch it for a sec, i look at the control slots.... its not showing.... i mouse over the Bake.... still bonded.... so i lore it, its actually listed as Very Happy still, so i sneak over and drop a couple fish steaks on it and give it a command and YOINK it pops back onto my control slots, good to go!

now that is just bloody weird!

so im gonna go off and get her 2 pet balls for these buggers and play super dad at breakfast tomorrow morning!

This happened to me a few weeks ago on Chessie. I was going to an RP event at the RBG hall in Serps, and happened to have a fully loaded beetle with me. For whatever reason, the server knocked me off and gave me the "couldn't put pet in stable, pet has been moved" message while I was halfway through town, not yet near the hall. (I'd planned to park him just outside, as normal). It wasn't until an hour after the event that I found him, way down as far north as you can go from where the fire island entrance is.

Tbh, this is one of the "features" I hate most; every time I get hit with it, it just breaks the immersion within the game world. Britannian horses/bugs/etc appear to be the least offensive ever, as every NPC welcomes me even as I ride my horse through their nice clean shop. Yet I go to Blackthorn's or Serps, or get hit in Doom, and suddenly my pet is forceably taken from beneath me. If the pet isn't sent to the stables, I'm suddenly forced to search to find it. At least once in Doom I've had a charger *not* end up in my pack (and thus be lost) after such a forced dismount. At least, though, when I'm knocked off my pet in Doom, the pet isn't magically sent somewhere else not of my choosing.

If we fall off a ship, we end up on land in the last place we stood. Couldn't the same happen for pets, so at least there's some place we'd expect to see them appear? If the server moves a pet, the pet goes to the last valid place you had it before you crossed into the no-pets area.

I think the problem is that often the pet is there, but when you log-back in to have it beside you, it's prior commands have it running full speed in some random direction. If there is no obstacle to stop it, then it can often be off-screen before the game window is fully loaded on your screen. It is even worse when the problem hits while at a server line.
