Trammies have no basis to affect a fel players gaming experience yet they do.
PvPers are all sociopath trolling a-holes right?
Yet its always the trammie players that get threads closed because of ludicrous behavior on their biased and ignorant views of how I, a FEL PLAYER should experience UO.
Alright, I vote for a new movement. Don't change Fel at all, just take EVERYTHING away from trammel. Thanks.
I'm playing the same place I started when I first logged in to UO pre UO:R. The rules and regulations that applies to two shards out of many doesn't hold any affect in ALL the other shards. If seige wasn't so dead, I would be there.
Fel...like Siege...allows PKs a lot of places. Siege allows the opportunity to PK others more places indeed...but it is
principles that should be evaluated. The only reason it offers PK opportunities more places is that Siege tries to capture the original spirit of UO, where anything goes anywhere at all.
It would seem, logically speaking to observe the following:
Siege allows PKs EVERYWHERE.
Fel allows PKs EVERYWHERE.
Trammel allows NO PKs...Just Guild Warfare
Siege is Dead.
Fel is Dead.
Trammel has a
lot more players and content than Fel or Siege.
So, it very well could be that PKs have an extreme detrimental effect on the number of players that will play particular facets or shards for most people. Not all, mind you, but most. It seems
more players than not really would rather not engage in completely non-consensual PvP.
Since PKs force non-consensual PvP on other players, and since areas frequented by PKs have far less players and/or content as they have less players to provide content to...(a resource drain for any Dev team), then a logical conclusion that limiting the opportunities for PKs to get their jollies actually aids in the longevity of a game, increases player satisfaction, could easily be drawn from this logic.
Hence, although Fel is a part of the game, just as Siege is, the stubborn resistance to changing from the known detrimental model (i.e. allow PKs free reign) to a PvP model that works VERY well ala any Consensual PvP model like Chaos Order or other PvP switch that gives a choice
could boost subscriptions for the game at the very least, and get a LOT more folks to Fel.
One could argue that way too many Fel players would quit over such a change. I can't speak to anything but the logic from above. PKs only enhance game play for a
very small number of players, based on history and objective observation. Some love it..most do not.
So...to want to hold onto keeping Fel non-consensual now that Power Scrolls are so "devalued and unneeded" according to many is likely more of a hindrance than a boon to Fel. Not sure what the solution is, but I know for myself and my wife, if they had entire suits that had 150 resists each and a God Mode button to press dropped in Fel, I would just buy it from someone else. We do not like non-consensual PvP.
I do find it amusing that the "Trammies are scared of evil PKs" statement is the red herring offered by many players that post here that like non-con PvP to almost try to taunt Trammies to come to Fel. It isn't about "Evil"...it's about "Annoying and Not Fun". If YOU were to engage in a PvP fight and suddenly, as your opponent gets you to half health, 6 of his friends show up and gank you...and this was to happen virtually every time you go out...over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...every time you try to go find a decent fight this was to happen to you...YOU could possibly enjoy it, possibly. Many, many people would not. What is the fun in that type of game play?
So...if you are wondering why there is a lack of attention and additions to Fel, hopefully this will explain it. There needs to be some way to get people to WANT to play the PK type of PvP instead of a consensual type, otherwise, based on history and mountains of empirical evidence, this part of the game will likely never change to suit people that enjoy the PK type of the game.
And Fel and Siege will remain shards with very low populations as well.
But at least in Fel and on Siege people can be killed anywhere a PK wants that won't get them guard whacked...so I guess that makes it fun for someone that likes to PK others.
Hopefully this will help clarify the situation, at least from what I think is an objective and fact based stance.
