Hello fellow Sosarians,
I have a report from my lead guard here in Minoc that is rather disturbing. I thought it would be best to bring this information to light, so we as a community could work together to help stop this type of violence from happening in our cities.
The head of the Royal Guard of Minoc has found a slain miner in the cave just east of Minoc. It appears that both the miner and his beetle were killed slowly and painfully -- 'clear signs of torture', the report states. This is the last thing I want to hear happening in or around my city.
When I was notified I did not hesitate to immediately dress in my finest fighting gear, and ride my black battle-worn horse to the eastern mining cave to help in the investigation myself. The scene was horrendous. It was so gory and brutal, I just don't even want to go in more detail. HOWEVER, during my search of the cave I did find something that might help us understand who could be behind such terror. Under the miners right hand was a handful of fabric, appears to be a bankers bag, with a torn piece of a yellow check. The only part you can read is "Datura" on the signature line.
Me and the guard called for more assistance to help clean up and secure the cave before morning shift begins. I then ran back to my office, and was flipping through files to see what I could find on this "Datura". I only could find one entry:
This past week at our royal governor meeting Lord Redbone, Governor of Britain, had brought up a name: Abrus Datura. At the time of the meeting he was saying hisspies scouts, had spotted Abrus Datura in both Jhelom and Minoc late last week. Coming off the highly contested governor race, I thought this was more of a smear tactic to try and say me and my colleague Cri Mort were somehow involved with such scum. However, being the leader I am, I instructed the guards to be on high alerts, and to watch specifically for this Abrus Datura. Sadly, a loss of life has occurred, and somehow Abrus Datura is involved. The guard who was assigned to the east cave was sleeping on the bridge with a sign that read 'nap time'. This guard will be severely punished for his lack of attention, and depending on the investigation - penalties could be more severe.
Now, at this early hour I do not know if Datura was involved physically or financially. I expect to have all banks on notice that a check will be appearing with a corner torn off, to ID the depositor, and hold this man or women in your holding cages until I can arrive to interrogate!
In the meantime, all citizens of Sosaria need to be watching their back. Do not get caught alone.
At this time, no other action can be taken. I ask that all people of Minoc and Sosaria take a moment to remember this fine miner that lost his life today in the caves. He is lost, but not forgotten. Justice will be served.
I will update everyone as soon as more information comes in.
Lord Cotton Eye Joe - Governor of Minoc
PS: The name of this slain miner will not be released until all family members, friends, and associates have been notified.
