I finally got my miner to 100 skill, I have been mining the last 2 days, probably mined up around 10K in various ore colors, but I have yet to mine up any gems or any valorite ore? I even went ahead and put on a pair of +5 mining gloves to put me at 105 (though its not supposed to make any difference) and I still havent mined up any?? I am even doing all of my mining on the Fel side... maybe a bug?? Any advice??

Keep at it. I don't think it's a bug, just a run of bad luck. Because of the type of ore that spawns in a vein is random now, it could be harder to find the good stuff. The required skill to dig up valorite is 99, so you haven't been eligible to find it for very long. The mining gloves are not a bad idea. Here's my advice:
1) Try using a prospectors tool to see what each vein will give before you waste time digging there. The tool will also bump the ore level up by one. (ie: turn a verite vein into valorite)
2) Don't keep mining the same locations all the time, find a few spots where you feel comfortable and alternate between them. Personally I usually mine in either Delucia, Britain, The Minoc mines, near my house at Destard, and the mine north of the brit graveyard.
3) Use a gargoyles pickaxe. This will also bump the ore to one level higher, although there is a chance you will spawn some kind of elemental, so be careful. Also, using the pick with the prospectors tool will bump you up 2 levels. (ie: A prospectors tool will turn agapite into verite, and then mining using the gargoyles pick will turn the verite to valorite.)

What Black Sun said is true. Probably just a run of bad luck. Sometimes when you do get a gem you'll end up getting a few more right after that. Watch out cause you can still dig up small pieces of blackrock and blackrock elementals. And they have a nasty attitude. I dug one up the other day and I'm still pulling chunks of blackrock teeth out of my backside.

Silly question...
Do you have the ML expansion?
Special woods and gems and things require you to have it.
As to valorite, try looking in that iron vein you mined 20 minutes ago.
It likes to sneak up on you like that.Basically, keep mining the same area over and over, and eventually it changes. (hopefully to valorite)
Not a dumb question at all.... that is the issue! I do not have ML on this account. I didnt realize that Gems and special woods could only come on the ML account....doh.. I have it on my main account but not my secondary account.... that explains why no gems.... guess no Valorite is due to a run of bad luck... Ill keep at it. Thanks everyone!
