I went and got the book of gems for my miner only to discover that it only gets you the loot type of gems and not more of the resource type gems that miners get. Man they take so long to accumulate significant amounts and imbuing uses so much of them. Is it true that elves get more of those resource type gems? Is it worth it changing? Prior to my current interest in imbuing I had used up many of the gems not knowing that I might want them to imbue with. Well it gives me an excuse to mine now. So much to do and so little time to do it all.

Yes elves do get an increased chance to mine/chop rare resources. I don't know if the normal gems are included as rare resources though. I think they were added simply as an additional method to acquire them other than purchasing from jewelers or looting.

I had, from years of looting them, thousands of each gem. Then, last year some time I sold them all to a jeweler. I can't remember why. I wished I hadn't when I first read about imbuing.

Yeah those are the regular gems. I regret selling all of mine from the numerous treasure chests and monsters I killed (I don't sell them anymore). In the guild I was in often no one wanted to sell the gems fromt he treasure chests we did so I would take them all and store them up and then sell them when I wanted some gold. The other gems are like the blue diamond, tourquoise, dark saphire, ecru citrine, fire ruby and perfect emerald that come from mining only as far as I know and they maybe spawn at the rate of two per hour of mining (that is one or two per hour of any variety of which there are 7 different varieties) and you need ten of them to imbue stuff at the highest level. I think it works out to about 35 hours of mining for 70 gems but only enough for one imbue using one type of gem. If you want to do the same imbue that's another 35 hours. Maybe with macros you can do it faster. I haven't been able to figure out the macro thing.

What shard do you play on? I have plenty of ML gems.

I need to find a fisherman on Pacific to trade gems for white pearls.
