got the crystaline black rock off the ellies I dug up and killed....off their bodies. Anyone know if you get the crystaline blackrock from just mining?

Mining Ellies up... Got me crystaline blackrock

yes (at least in Ter Mur) you can also get crystalline blackrock from just mining alone (and plain old ordinary blackrock also still spawns)
resource gathering can now generate SA resources:
mining: crystalline blackrock
lumberjacking: crystal shards ( I find this fascinating given the crystal forests of Malas which has apparently undergone a similar void-collapse at some point as Ter Mur is struggling against)
fishing: delicate scales ( someone must have had quite the shipwreck! )

indeed a great addition to resource gathering. i kinda thought the same thing, why not crystal shards from malas trees since theres all them crystal patches around. would be nice to maybe see each facet get its own type of bonus drop from resources, would be kinda cool.
There may well yet be mysteries we don't understand.
The RNG ?
hehe indeed, i spent about 4 hours of lumberwhackin in termur last nite and didnt get a single crystal shard. wonder if its cuz i was usin the meli hatchet? my natural skill is 97 and i got plenty of different wood and other side stuff. guess was just a bad rng nite
I was using a Mel's in Ter Mur for a little while over the weekend (but on an elf who was already GM lumberjacking) and was getting a drop rate a little lower than parasitic plants ... about 1 per beetle-full of wood.
I was in Ter mur on my human LJ for over an hour, and got none. would being a gargoyle help I wonder. *curses the RNG*
elf gm is your best bet, mine is elf 97 and finally got 3 tonite doin alil choppin, did without a meli, but im sure that didnt matter. need more coolness like this, maybe make wood versions of the woodsman monsters, like wood elementals that sometimes spawn from choppin with meli axe? thatd be fun, my miner/lj is a battle type so i enjoy the occasional fight hehe.
thanks for the advice I'll switch my lj to an Elf character
