min skill with spells and gaining and never fail question

just wondering how we figure out the 'never fail' number for a spell?

lets take for example the Chivalry spell Holy Light.
its minimum skill is 55
ive heard from some people the never fail number is 106

how do we figure this out?
anyone know?

also, when looking at this i got to thinking that in some skills you'd have to GGS to get to 120 cause all the spells are so low.
examples being Bushido and Chivalry.

now i know a long while back they fixed Bushido so you can 120 off of lightning strikes now, but did they do the same for Chivalry?
can we 120 off of Holy Light now?
or Noble Sac?
cause i think the no fail number for Noble Sac is 115, or so ive heard.

just something to mull over on a Saturday night while sitting at work.

Chiv cannot be 120'd from casting, you need to get GGS gains, use the discord trick or SoT. At 115 chiv you have 100% chance to cast.
I have taken Chivalry to 120 several times just casting Noble Sacrifice. Set up a function key to cast the spell with a set of bleue jewelry, lots of mana, and take a friend sailing.

well the GGS thing is definitely not still in for chiv gaining.
the write up says once your 50 points over min your 100% (so you wont gain anymore)
but im at 106.3 on a maxed out player (720 skill) and still gaining every couple minutes, so definitely not the GGS.

so, an hour later im still at 115.0 with casting holy light on a 1 second macro

so i switched to noble sac and gained off the first one, then again off the 3rd and the 10th and the 18th.
so i hate to say it but it looks like you cant get any higher off holy light then 115.0

good news is it looks like you can go the rest of the way on noble sac!

on a related note, i think i found the fastest guy to train chivalry!
im doing it on a neco in lich form with a shadow wisp, my suit is 100 LCR with like 80 LMC (not that it matters cause im capped at 40) and i have on the suit around 40 MR plus the 13 MR from the lich form, then 120 med and 120 focus and 2/8 casting and a total of 210 Mana.
isnt it amazing the training suits you can build with legendary cursed artys!

so mana has not been an issue!

The first thing I do when training a character lately is get them a crystal ball of knowledge from Ortlem the Mystic in Ter Mur.

I actually forget how I got to 120 chiv on my tamer but if you can, just use SOTs at the end. Honestly, I've tried to understand or maximize GGS far too long, when using or obtaining an SOT is just so much easier in the long run lol.

Either way, Chiv isn't all that bad between the cast speed and spammability of Holy Light and Nobel Sacrifice. Pretty sure I just spammed Holy Light and used a mixture of GGS and SOTs.

ok, so did it last night between calls at work.
holy light only took me to 115
but noble sac took me all the way to 120 with no problems.

so i can confirm you dont need to GGS from 115 to 120.
