Miasma uses level 5 or 6 poison ?

The poison inflicted by Miasma, according to the Hunter's Guide is "Lethal poison".
Is that level 5 or 6 ? I am asking because orange petals are supposed to protect up to level 5, not 6.

Or would it be preferable to use Vampiric Embrace when fighing Miasma, melee ?

I'd rather prefer, if possible, to use the necromancy points elsewhere rather than just to counter poison, but if vampiric embrace is far better than orange petals.....

I just got my necro/archer all trained up and was thinking of trying those with a good scorpion slayer.

There is no Lvl 6 Poison. Lvl 1 - Lesser Poison, Lvl 2 - Poison, Lvl 3 - Greater Poison, Lvl 4 - Deadly Poison, Lvl 5 - Lethal Poison.
Miasma does Lethal Poison, which will break through both Vampiric Poison Resist and Orange Petals. Deadly Poison can break through them as well.

Whatever the poison, it's irrelevant for a sampire with miasmas. You're pretty much always poisoned, but your health bar stays high anyway because you're leeching life with a scorpion slayer weapon with armor ignore. Sampires totally rule miasmas - absolutely my favorite monster to farm for gold and chests.

I fight Miasma with a regular Paladin and don't have any problems. Just ignore the Mortal Strike until it wears off, then heal if you need to.

Orange Petals are harvested from the following player-grown Plants:

• Bright Orange Pampas Grass
• Bright Orange Poppies
• Bright Orange Bulrushes

They are stackable, and weigh 1 stone each. When eaten by a character, they bestow a complete resistance to poisoning, except for the highest level, i.e., 6 for a period of five minutes. As of Publish 71, deadly poison and stronger have a 25% chance to break the poison immunity granted by orange petals.

there is a level 6 poison that you can only get from opening a gm tinker trapped poison chest
it drops your health much faster than any other poison in the game and it's much harder to cure
