Why not? Lots of people go to a lot of trouble to create hotpools from blue dyed cloth and cotton. It must be a nightmare to come up with gifts every year that aren't game changing; it makes sense to look for ideas in what people create in their houses.
One does not discount the other. Do you stop fixing meals on days when you do laundry?

So she was serious about the bathtubs? Wow Just Wow.... I have never seen someone make a bathtub in UO tbh. If there are then that gift caters to a very small userbase. I could care less though because I always thought that all these gifts did was clutter the server and create lag.
While we're thinking of things to do heres a good one. They are on the right track with this invasion stuff but what would be good is if they add 2 outfit/dress slots to the paperdoll. Allow us to hide what we really have on and what we show. Give me an option to wear a pink dress if I want to or better yet a SKIRT and Spellbook in hand. Allow us to toggle which outfit we want to make visible to the people viewing out characters as we run around and when they open our paperdoll. That is something real that EA could spend their time working on that will make both the Trammel and Felucca sides by majority happy.
If anyone who can make good changes happen wants to get hold of me by all means do so. There are a lot of things on the PVP side of the game that PVPERS would like to see changed. As much as PVPers like to hate eachother I'm positive that a Council of sorts could be put together with a spokesperson for each major PVP guild currently in game IE HI_5, EVO, LD, DC, LBSG, R, PAIN, HOT, EUO* and the list goes on. I'm confident that said PVP guilds could atleast get together and agree on changes in PVP that the game needs and not rage on eachother too bad while doing so.
