Has anyone heard anything in regards to us being any closer to the actual merger date or is everyone still in the dark as to an approxiamte date? It seems that everyone and everything in all cities are in a hold/pause mode at this time in anticipation of the pending merger and it's getting pretty boring. No one is selling anything nor holding property contest for simoleans because they know that they'll just be wiped at merger.

Agreed, TSO has become a major yawn fest. All there is left to do is pull pets or go to TC3 and work a job track(old and tired jobs). Untill the merge actaully happens I doubt you'll see much activity in any of the cities being merged. Sucks don't it.

The latest word on the TC/TC3 merge is "November".
Then shortly thereafter (if everything goes well) they will begin to absorb the production cities into EALand.
Note that the production cities will not 'merge' with TC3, nor will TC3 be a part of EALand - exactly.

Yup,...I have moved on to other on line games. Not waiting around in dead cities, and I absolutely refuse to delete a sim just to go to TC3. (Don't even say that I could get a free trial and go to TC3 with a new sim.) I'm not desiring to deal with the updates and downloads of switching back and forth from TC3 and production cities.

I also am not the least bit interested in hanging out with the attitudes I observe on here from people who respond to honest concerns from regular players. The constant "Quit whining and complaining and come visit us at the pub in TC3" from players who supposedly support the devs and want us to stick around, has only driven a rift between themselves and many veteran players.

With the exception of one or two players who posted helpful information out here, other than "Read the blog or Wiki", the majority of responses are rude and demeaning.

So,...I will just check the posts every now and then. Log in to keep the account active but just visit my property and then log off. Then come February or March,...will see how things have progressed.

So do your worst,...delete all that I have (or not), Take all my fake money (or not), Heck...I don't care if ya even change the gender of my sims. All that matters not to me. For you see,...Im not excited at all about any changes to the game, whether they turn out good or bad. So for all you "cheerleaders"....lay off the caffeine. You wanna see me get excited?...give me a winning Lottery ticket.

oh and for the comments of,.."If bored, give your simmie a job"....oh YAY !!...just what I want to do....have a day off from work so I can play a game where I pretend to be at work....wow.

Y'all do what ya feel you need to do. As for me,...I'm checking out for a few months.

The game is what you make of it.

As for 'supporting' the devs, I think those of us that are supporting these changes have finally understood that it this way or there is nothing. It's either accept that the game has to change for it's survival or complain about it.

We ALL put up with inconveniences in the game. We ALL have problems here and there. Obviously you know what it's like to wait for the merge. ALL of us are waiting for the merge. Some of us are trying to make the best of it and having 'other' players throw that stuff in our faces none stop is just well.....annoying too. Can you understand that?

As for 'when is the merge'? I would say it's probably not far away. Looking at what has been done/completed....the login has been updated, the city map looks nearly completed. I don't know about anyone else, but it doesn't look long at all. Once they merge the test cities and have that all worked out, the other cities won't be long behind because it's a priority for the devs to get everything merged as soon as humanly possible.

I do realized that the recent EA outage hasn't helped anything either so it may push the timetable back.

Patience is really needed right now more then ever. WE the players can't change anything and constantly nagging at us still isn't going to make us be able to change anything.

i honestly don't think even the devs themselves know right now, executioner 47. if they did they would tell us.

i think the growing frustration over technical issues, lack of weekend support, and players growing bored with the pace of change, its time they consider letting us play for free.

Better yet, why don't they just hand us our pink slips and yank the plug? (I'm being sarcastic with the comment)

I'm sorry to point out the obvious, but the recent 'technical issues' should actually be expected considering the big changes being implimented in the game at the moment.

TSO isn't forcing anyone to continue to pay for the game. Players can just stop paying and wait to come back until the freebie accounts are available.

Letting us play for free, is completely counter productive, when they are trying so hard to prove to EA Games that this can become a financially viable and self-supporting game.

But there is certainly nothing damaging to those efforts, with giving us, the patient players, extra skill locks for our troubles!

Hint, hint.......

Wouldn't extra skill locks kill off the only game we have left, skilling (yawn)?

It seems to be the one thing everyone cherishes.....and it does not undermine the bottom line for the basic goal and deadline the Devs are working with.

Plus, I have never heard anyone say that they were quiting the game because they had met all their skill goals......

But....we drift from the topic......

The only timeline we have on the merge, is that the TC/TC3 merge, will be the first step.....everything else is flexible, and depends on whatever bugs and glitches they have to deal with as they go along.

K

Well the date will keep getting pushed back if they do attempt to fix all the bugs and glitches they have created now. I would hope the login issue would take priority over the merge, I mean what good would a merged city be if you can't get into it?

I

imported_DutchAmerica

LOL locks wouldn't hurt for sure, but hearing all the things in the pipeline, we may not be so all absorbed in skilling so much in the future.

However, I kinda think it's totally awesome for the 'non' beta founders to be able to get EAland 'founder' status.

How often do players have the opportunity this far into the a game to become founders?

I know everyone is getting antsy for the merge. It kinda feels like Xmas eve....all the anticipation.

And who knows, like I'm not going to hold my breath or anything but, who says the devs won't give us a little special something for hanging in through the merge? (Like I said, I'm not holding my breath.) But you know, Luc doesn't sound like too bad a guy and he sounds appreciative to us for sticking it out. So who knows....

I realize right now we all want something new to play with, but the thing is....anything new brought into the old cities is one more complication to add problems to our upcoming merge.

(The log in issue very well could be cleared up with the merge of TC3/TC. At this moment we have 4 different patches in the pipeline to go to various cities in TSO. Trying to keep all those patches sorted out and compatible with the log in has to be as fun as trying to hold a wet cat. There's BV, Production Cities, TC and TC3.)

K

The login issue should be the priority right now, many players cannot play at all let alone patch back and forth. I know you have read the complaints and issues revolving around this and you also know a few new players have said to hell with it before ever being able to play. That being said, the login issue is a must have fix.

Yes I agree but in order FOR THE MERGE TO TAKE PLACE THE LOGIN MUST BE FIXED FIRST. THE MERGE CAN WAIT!

That image says more than words ever could.

Your link is being way over used as well, the topic of this thread is merge date not free play.

The merge date is going to have to be wait untill those that want to play can actually play the game we have now, not months from now.

I must have been the only one listening when Lee stated something about the merge in the pub. He stated last week that the TC & TC3 merge was aiming to happen within the month and to have have all the cities merged within 10 weeks. He said this is what they are aiming for. So they are hoping for mid December to be done with the merge.

Now, I will remind you, this is what he said they are AIMING for, it was not a definite.

while the title may have been merge date, my link and reply is in response to his statment, and i quote:

i am in full agreement that the regular cities are boring, even if you could get into them on a weekend when there is no technical support. hence...

Yep yep, I agree Niki. We are so close to the merge, I don't think it really matters who opted not to make a sim there.

I am thinking that this is all part of the 'merge' process though which is getting me really excited. We've got the login block.....even though needs a good can of raid to work right....but it's all part of the big picture....the merge.

Yea it sure did. I know everyone plays differently, but I dont understand why everyone stopped playing just because the money would be wiped. That must be the only reason most the players play. Its sad, I miss AV. No one is ever there anymore (if I can even get updated to go there). I dont get why everyone would stop 'playing' because the merge was announced. Skills are always good, since we can bring those with us. I know its 'boring', but the game is what you make of it. The players ARE the game. it is up to US to make it more interesting while we wait & watch all the changes
I have seen some really awesome houses in TC3 where people just PLAY, not worry about being millionaires or having every rare in the game, but where we can just hang out, meet people, friend link, play with objects that usually get ignored and just have fun.

I miss the game before all this talk really. I cant wait til everything is running smooth and players are back.

So you think it was a big mistake to allow the players who weren't able to get to TC3 the chance to. You say that, as someone who has been there in the front lines of it all for months. Do you not realize that the many players who felt left out deserved the chance to see what all the fuss is about, the chance to meet your beloved developers, the chance to find out information for themselves? Do you not realize how dead all the production cities are? Do you not think those players too, should be able to play in the only city that has people? It would have been nice had the patch worked, it would have been nice if they would bother to address the issues still troubling so many players, if they had gotten it right before they headed off to a party... but still many are left out of being able to patch, some can't even get the game to run at all. It would still be nice if they would bother to acknowledge there is a major problem for many instead of ignoring the fact.

Alot of us didn't just play the game for the money/simoleans,I sure didn't because I owned a casino and I gave away more money than I ever gained, The enjoyment of people playing for the money/simoleans was that it gave players an outlet to do something other skilling ourselves to death which bored me beyond belief. It allowed us to put on casino and other property events and aside from the giving away of money/simoleans,it was fun and everyone had good times. My casino was never empty as I offered not only slots but paints as well and some people just came by to have some fun with old friends and make new friends.I also own a store in AV and it's useless for me and other store owners to sell either crafts or catalogue items for simoleans,as we all know that they will be wiped away.

Now having said all that,I'm going to stick it out because I've converted my casino to a nightclub and just waiting for the merger as it relates to what I will and will not be able to do in the way of putting on contests for simoleans and the like. It's my hope that once the merger is complete, everyone will return and so will the fun.

ROFL! This is how I feel too, and the whole 'fixing the economy' issue. Crikey - my sims make less in their jobs than I do in my r.l. job lol... I game sims for fun and vicarious fantasy. You're joking right? Please tell me you're joking. Stop your cheerleading and THINK for a minute! Everyone has stopped playing because the upcoming merge/wipe has SEVERELY limited our game play. Like it or not, a lot of this game is about money. Think about it....we have stores, games, crafts, building, and money objects. Stores are closed because no one wants to sell anything right now since there is no point in selling stuff for simoleans since they will be wiped. We can build until the merge/wipe, but can't visit stores. Which means we can only buy items from the catalog...we can't buy stuff from stores like crafts, rares, or clothes since they're closed..so there is no visiting stores. Games/casinos are closed because even if they don't do payouts, there is no point in the owners collecting money from the objects when money will be wiped anyway. So you can't even go to one of those to just have fun and hang out with friends. No one is selling fruit anymore...No point in doing money objects because who wants to gain more simoleans from the money objects just to lose them in the wipe? Yeah, the players ARE the game, BUT we can only do so much with what we have...and right now, with the pending merge/wipe, we don't have much to work with. Lately I've only been doing pet pulls...and there is only so much of that a person can do before falling asleep from boredom. Yeah, skilling is good but it's boring as heck...and that's about the only thing left to do except sit around and chat. Yippee! I can do that in a free chat room. And with the wipe coming, in EA Land, that will be about all I'll be doing anyway, so why bother doing it now? As for linking, you might like having tons of links, but I prefer not to link with every sim I meet. I like getting to know a person well before I link with them...not link just so I can show off that my sim has a ton of green links/friends. My ego isn't that big.

And if you say "The game is what you make of it" ONE MORE TIME, I'm going to vomit! Change the record already! I'm just as sick of hearing that as you are of hearing complaints about the wipe/merge. You aren't even trying to understand anyone's point. You just get your pom-poms out and cheer for the changes all the time. If you are happy, fine, but at least have the decency to respect those of us with different views and who aren't happy.

Look at what you just wrote.......really read it. See the irony in it? This is a whole pot/kettle thing, because not only have you been playing the same record virtually since you started posting here, saying the same things time and time again, you don't seem to respect the fact that other people see things differently either. I say 'you don't SEEM' because I don't know really if you do or not, I can only read what you post here, which might or might not be a total representation of how you actually feel. Some people are better at expressing their thoughts and ideas thoroughly than others are. I just don't understand how you can tell her what you just said after posting that long post telling her why she's wrong and you're right.

If anybody here is unhappy it's because they are choosing to be, plain and simple. And no, I don't mean just the option you have of leaving. There are many ways to cope/deal with the changes that are taking place and are going to take place, and they've all been listed here. Making the best of what I think most everybody can agree is a bad situation (the wipe) is not a crime, and its not something that deserves belittling and/or being made fun of, and it's not being a 'cheerleader'. Mandi has in the past voiced her opinion on plenty of things with the game that she disagrees with, but usually when she does she does it in a clear, concise and mature way, being careful not to be beligerent and get into the 'jumping up and down' part. Just because she happens to either be happy now, or at least realizes that she can't change anything so she might as well roll with it if she wants to stay around, doesn't mean that she has never had anything negative to say about the game.

I haven't been in TC3 for a while, but I do log in to TC. What are you up to these days, Carrie, that keeps you happy while we wait for the merge? I know how you feel about those who grumble, but let us in on your own game plan.

I loved Mandi's tour report the other day

I am resigned to gritting my teeth and enduring boredom -- which TSO players are very good at -- until we see what comes with the merge surge. I know that bugs will proliferate, and that always causes excitement.

IS THERE A POOL FOR WHEN THE FIRST MERGE HAPPENS? If not, let's start one.

If you re-read my ENTIRE post, you will see that I was just explaining to her (albeit a bit hostile since I'm getting sick of the "everything is great" attitude) WHY people stopped playing now, pre-merge. AND I DID tell her (in the part you quoted even) that if she liked the changes, fine. Does that sound like I don't respect other's views? NO! Just the opposite. It wasn't an attack out of thin air. SHE said she didn't understand, so I explained it. I may have been expressing my same views, because they haven't changed, to defend myself when others post to me, but at least I don't repeat the same phrase like "the game is what you make of it" word for word like a record that is stuck EVERY TIME. And I most certainly DO respect other's views. And I NEVER said I was right and she was wrong. It was an explanation, plain and simple. I've even said before that if people like the changes, fine, it's their right to feel that way, but respect those of us who don't, which is not what she (or others) seem to be doing. THEY seem to be the ones saying that the ones who aren't happy ARE wrong...not MIGHT BE wrong or that we have a right to feel how we do....and we have NO right to feel how we do. We're the bad guys here, and I am getting tired of it. That is why I was getting hostile. AND FYI, I wasn't TRYING to be hostile..just very firm because she just wasn't understanding why people aren't playing now...

And before anyone says anything, yeah, the merge/wipe IS happening. There is NOTHING I can do about it....I GET THAT! I've gotten that from the beginning. But that doesn't mean I have to like it and don't have the right to say how I feel or that I don't have a right to post a response when people post a message like Mandi asking why people aren't playing now just because the wipe is coming. So everyone, please, PLEASE...I'm begging...STOP posting messages attacking/insulting those of us who are against the changes.

*Asking in a very calm, sincere manner* Maybe I misunderstood something here, but a while back I read something about the fact that they couldn't give the production cities the same thing (as far as items) that they were giving TC3 or something like that, which is why they were merging into EALand. So if that's the case, wouldn't giving everyone CC BEFORE the merge kind of cancel out the need for the merge? Just curious. And this isn't a post to be sarcastic or smart or to criticize the merge in any way. I'm sincerely asking here. Did I misunderstand something?

You might as well hang it up, I doubt you will ever get any sincere answers here anymore. It's turned into if your not a cheerleader than your going to be ganged up on by them as I am sure you have noticed by now. I said it before and I'll say it again, I FEEL THE PUBHEADS AND CHEERLEADERS ARE NOW DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD FOR THE GAME AND FUTURE OF TSO/EA LAND!!!!!

I believe she means CC in TC3 and not the production cities.

I haven't been in TC3 for a while, but I do log in to TC. What are you up to these days, Carrie, that keeps you happy while we wait for the merge? I know how you feel about those who grumble, but let us in on your own game plan.

I've taken my own advice and been persuing other interests so that I don't drive myself insane like some others seem to have been doing. Playing TS2 some, but mostly playing on Pogo. I've had a pogo account for 5+ years, used it mostly for multi-tasking while skilling before since we all know skilling is the most boring thing and if you have nothing to do its even worse, cuz usually starting a conversation is choppy at best, getting answers when people return to the puter to hit the "I'm back" button while they vacuum, do the dishes, etc. etc. etc. Now I just play it more since the cutback of the money in TC3, and the production cities, as others have pointed out are pretty dead, or if not dead no challenge because houses are giving out 5k+ per jam payouts and such like that. I keep up religiously with the boards, and read the blog as much as I can, though this is the only place I actually post that is game related......other places I am a lurker.

So yeah, I practice what I preach. When I said it might be a good idea for people to diversify their interests, it wasn't just fluff. I've done it myself and I am ALOT happier and content.
Pogo has a free membership and a paid membership for those who are interested. Best plan for the paid membership is the yearly rate, pay it once and you're done for the year and get unlimited access and they only have minimal problems and scheduled downtime every Tues. morning around 6am EST when they do their maintenance and adding new stuff. Some weeks no new stuff gets added but most of the time something is added at least.....so I like it

*shakes head and ignores most of the above*

Test Centre to TC3 merge November 21. EA Land Opens Dec 5. (thought it would be more suiting to wait for the official 5th anniversary of TSO) First Production City merge Dec 12. With updates being on Wednesdays, there really aren't alot of dates to choose from.

And you feel that constant complaining, criticizing and pessism concerning the game and it's future is not harming the game? SOME of the 'pubheads' do seem to have formed their own clique, but my goodness cliques have been around on the boards and in game for LONG time, and yet here we still are. And it's not all of them....plus the pessimistic people lumped them into that clique by calling them cheerleaders and pubheads in the first place! What about that?
