Meditation...How necessary is it for a mage? Resist?

I'm working on a caster build that has a rather tight skill spread and I'm trying to decide whether I should go with meditation or resist. The character's mana will be in the 150s, it will have 14 MR, 120 Focus, 40% LMC. Will this be sufficient in the field or should I drop resist for med?

I'm leaning toward dropping med because I'd like to use the Infused Void Kilt, but I'm not entirely sure 1.6 mana regen per second will be sufficient. With just 80 med, my regen would shoot up to 2.58 per second, which is a whopping 61% regen speed increase. Disregarding med but not using the Void Kilt yields 1.9 mana per second. How feasible is it to play a PVP character without resisting spells? Mana drain alone seems like it would cripple me.

Low meditaton is going to depend on your playstyle. If you are solo or small group pvp then more pressure is on each person and it may not be a good idea. Are you faction? Faction gets more regen then non faction making a low med char easier.

As for the resist spell...I would say yes you need it but that once again depends on you. Spell Plauge hits harder and more often, you get para'd, poisoned every single try (sort of a big deal with all the noxxers running around right now), and of course the mana vampires/drains. The debuffs like weaken/clumsy/feeblemind can be annoying also. I don't know your exact template, but you have to think about the non mana offensive it provides before you don't choose resist. For example a pvp tamer almost never has resist, it works tho because a pet doesn't need mana to do damage. So even if you are paralyzed, poisoned, and mana vampired you have the ability to damage someone without moving, healing or casting. I have a mystic tamer mage, no resist, and it always struggled against the mystic mages because of the spell plauges, but it gets rocked by the nox mages right now. No enhance potions and no resist means high level poison I can't resist or get rid of easily. For that reason alone I would say yah do resist.

Don't you get more mana with med vs focus? why would you drop med but keep focus instead if you want mana?

I have a non-faction char without resist magic that does pretty well... but he's a dexxor. I can tell a HUGE difference though between him and my other players. I really think a mage would be easy meat without resist spells. With 150+ mana and 40% LRC and 120 focus, you shouldn't have a problem with mana regen. That's my 2 cents. But I am not a very good PvPer.
