Meditation and Scribing

So I am finding better success with my treasure hunter just letting the EVs do the work. However, his magery is still under development so I'm needing big quantities of EV scrolls.

So my Scriber starts scribbling away. He has 120 Meditation and his mana fills up relatively fast. However, as quick as it drains from Level 8 scribing, I tried to make his mana recovery even more.

So I suit him up with a bunch of Mana Regen ecoutrements. Boomstick, Hat of the Magi and so forth.

So he's at MR 14 at the moment. However, I notice that when I meditate when I am at empty mana, the active meditation doesnt seem that much faster than the passive.

Sooo.... is Meditation worthless if you have a high MR? Should I be using those med points in Focus for faster regen?

My scribe is a necro also, I use + mana, MR, and lmc items, in lich form and with a wisp familiar. Hope that helps.

I have noticed the same. I'm running 18 Mana Regen and I don't see any difference between active and passive meditation.

It seemed to me that this started when they added diminishing returns in.

I think I read somewhere that active meditation only doubles the Mana Regen bonus from meditation itself. So if you're only running meditation with no other MR effects, then it will double the rate, but if you're using a lot of additional MR items, then the increase from it will be much less significant.
The bonus may even be affected by the diminishing returns system that was implemented for MR.

I tend to equip my casters with 20+ mana regen and when i do med it does go a little faster but not much

Insert your stats/MR & it will tell you your passive MR with armor thats non-medable / medable / and medable when using the actual meditation skill.

Hmmm... didnt think of that....

I didn't know Lower Mana Cost worked on inscription. I can't seem to find anything on Stratics or UOGuide that says it does. Are you sure it counts?

LMC works on everything that uses mana. LRC does not work with crafting skills such as alch or scribe.

This response will be a little off-topic maybe but I've always had a problem with how meditation and scribe work together. Both skills use active cooldowns, so when you have the scribe tool up and you use the med skill actively, you have to close the scribe menu then wait to reopen it once the med timer is down. Unless it's just me or something. Anyway, it would be nice if they made it so scribe didn't have that cooldown, would make using active med more fun.

I think there is a universal reason for cooldowns, or there was. I need more coffee before I say something stupid.
