May join GL?

Well after about 6 years of being off real shards and 1 year of playing TC i've decided that i may start GL. Idk what to do first though... so much has changed from the pre-AOS days.

Some Questions:

Is the Shard active?
How are the pvp/pvm communities. [mostly pvp i'm worried about]
Our there active EM's and stuff like that?
What are some good temps to run? Fastest way to do it know a days?
Good PvP/PvM Guilds?

If anyone can answer my questions it would be great!

Yes.

How are the pvp/pvm communities. [mostly pvp i'm worried about]

PvP is competitive (I mean this in several senses, good and bad); PvM is fun and cooperative.

Our there active EM's and stuff like that?

Oh yes. Far as I can tell we have the two best. The events are mostly in-character and RPed, but not exclusively. (I am an aberration in that I take everything in-character and RP everything, to one degree or another.)

EM Malachi holds events every Tuesday at 9pm Eastern; at his events we are the Britannian Royal Spies (aka Her Majesty's Secret Service).

EM Elizabella holds events at varying dates and times; she's holding an evil event (meaning you work for Virtuebane) this Friday (I will probably send an alt to spy on the bad guys for Galen, my main character). She also sometimes holds a Felucca event. (Though those aren't too well-attended.)

What are some good temps to run? Fastest way to do it know a days?

I only know how to play a limited number of templates, so this one I can't answer.

Good PvP/PvM Guilds?

Definitely on PvM, though we also have a good bit of spontaneous, non-guild Corgul runs or Ilsh Spawn runs; for PvP I shall let someone who PvPs full-time answer. I only PvP part-time, and run alone most (not all) of the time unless it's a Faction fight or something.


Global Chat is in many ways the key to shard life if you are new to the shard and aren't in a guild or alliance. Listen in to the General Chat channel, and you can infer what's going on most, but not all, of the time. And when you are at an EM event look for the channel that's called "EM Event" (the one without the dash).

Oh, and you can find people both at the Luna Bank and (to a lesser degree) the West Brit. Bank.

Yes, Galen is hardcore into the EM events. I thought he was part of the EM team for a little while. I haven't participated in EM events on other shards, so I can't comment on that, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with our EMs and the events. Unfortunately I can't come to every EM event, so I can't really keep up with the storyline, but the events are fun.

GL has a very rich history, with some of the first GM "blessed" buildings and locations. It also has a fairly large population, and it is in every way what I would consider active. In fact, it is active enough that Luna is uncomfortably crowded for me, and I choose to go to Moonglow or West Brit bank.
