Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a way to calculate how high your gd's combat ratings will max at, based on thier attributes and resistances or is it a case of train till you can train no more?

No.

The only way to calculate it (unlesss you really good at maths) is pre tame, a GD will train up to 20%ish less than its pre tamed skills.

So if oyu were really good at maths you could work out its pre tamed skills(if you didnt check) from the post tame and then take 20%of.

I have the GD skills formula... (apply for all skills except magery which cap at 0.9)

Pretamed value = A
Tamed value = B
Max skill = C

A x 0.72 = B
A x 0.9 = C

If you didnt capture pre-tamed skill you may use following formula
B x 1.25 = C

Above formulas only accurate if you havent train your GD...

The best way to fast assess a GD is, before taming, by removing 10% in all skills above GM. (If that figure is under GM, that skill will be trainable up to GM).

Then you have an idea of the skills of that GD when fully trained.

The easiest way I've found to assess where a GD's final skills will get to is plugging the untamed or freshly tamed stats into a little spreadsheet that does the necessary calculations for me. It's also a handy store for the stats/skills of your current best draggy for assessing any "upgrades".

Resist never change

Magery take 10% off Pre-Tame or simply accept the Post Tame value. It will never train higher than the Post Tame (unless it is less than 100?).

Pre - Tame

Stats divide by two except int/mana

Take 10% of the skill and subtract from the skill. Anything less that 100 will train up to 100.

Post Tame

Stats are what they are, dex/stamina will train to 125

Skills multiply skill by 1.25 that is the max value unless it is less than 100, then it will train to 100.

Anatomy should be 0, if it is not then either the GD killed / fought people before being tamed or has fought after being tamed. Anatomy will never go over 100. If one assumes that the GD has been partially trained then all things being equal, then one can assume a reasonable proportionality to the other skills having been trained.

Such that if Anatomy is 100, then the other skills are probably close to or at max.

If anatomy is 90, then one can assume that the other skills are probably close to 90% of max.

Resist spell is probably exempt from the above.

Heck just go round up some spellbinders (6+) and let them play with the GD for a couple hours and that GD will be at max Resist Spells and Dex/Stamina should be at 123 or so (the GD will be debuff'd).
