max followers for GM Taming/Lore

hi all,

my character is 120 in Taming and 120 Lore, and also 120 vet. yesterday i tried to tame a cu sidhe and it said i have 'too many followers' or something. i looked at my stats and i saw 3/5 followers.

i noticed that 1 follower happens whenever i mount my ethereal horse mount.. the others were two horses i tamed a long time ago that keep following me whenever i log into the game (they appear on top of my character). so i released these two horses and it seemed to free up my 'followers' slots. so now my followers is only 1/5 when i am on my ethereal mount.

but in the pet stable i have a beetle. why isn't the beetle considered a follower? and how can i find out how many pets i can stable?

160 - 199.9 total skill - 3 stable slots
200 - 239 total skill - 4 stable slots
240+ - 5 stable slots
add one slot for each skill at 100 skill (ie 100 tame /100 lore /100 vet = 8 slots)
add one slot for each skill at 110 skill (ie 110 tame /110 lore /110 vet = 11 slots)
add one slot for each skill at 120 skill (ie 120 tame /120 lore /120 vet = 14 slots)
The 2009 Expansion, Stygian Abyss included a further 2 stable slots for all characters, resulting in non-tamer characters being able to stall 4 pets and fully skilled tamers to stall 16 pets. The command 'stablecount' will tell you the number of pets you have stored and your total storage allowed. Example: '2/4 stable stalls used'

easiest way is to go to stable and do the "stablecount" command

This Stratics Page should have a lot of great information for you on it.

Basically, there are 2 different scales... Stable Slots (how many pets you can hold in the stable with each pet = 1 slot) and Follower Slots (how many pets you can "control" at once with each pet = 1 to 5 slots depending on the type of pet.

According to the linked page above, you can have between 2 stable slots (a character with no tamer skills) to 14 stable slots with 120 in taming, lore, and vet. Since then, I believe there was a change that added two to the base slots so the range is now between 4 and 16.

i guess 'followers' should be interpreted literally... meaning the number of pets you have physically existing in the game world (i.e. not stabled).

whereas the number of pets you can store in the stables is a different limit.
