I see marble benches are rare. what about marble wooden boxes? were these once craftable, still craftable, from a dye?

There is a marblish color with a name like "mother of pearl"
You can dye your wooden crafted items with this dye if you use special wood but the color does not match the "marble" that is rare.

tried to find mine to take a screenshot but no luck. will look when i have more time. just a normal wooden box, with the color of antique wedding dress.

You can check in EC the hue values to verify and see if what you have is the rare marble hue.
