Making cure pots for gargoyles??

When the scenario first started out, we were told that alchemy would not be required to do this. But it was also stated alchemy would provide a boost...Has anyone noticed yet what that boost is?

You only have so many tries to complete before it explodes on you. The alchemist gives you an extra chance or two.
