Magincia Invasion... Incentive?

So it looks like we have another invasion over in Magincia again. Bane Chosen, Demons and Evil Mages.

The problem is that most people like to fight for a reason, be it to hold back waves of evil, new rare-ish items in game and the like. Because the current scenario lacks this, I'm noticing very few people wanting to actively join in this event.

It isnt like the old Britain invasion, where you can beat it back for a few hours. It isn't like the old Magincia invasion, where people collected Vorpal Blades and Staff of Pyros. It isn't even where you can collect rubble.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that there really should be put something in game to encourage people to want to do this. They could fight the Bane, Demons or Mages elsewhere. I think that, if the trouble is made to start an invasion spawn like this, there should be and end result in order to entice people.

RP'ers might want to say they earned a victory for a few.

PvM'ers might want to try their hand at getting a new item.

Rares Collectors might want a possible rare that would spawn.

I'm just saying I see very few interested in joining it, and I think an incentive of some sort would encourage more people to participate.

As an RPer I'd like to say I helped do something... but rather hard since there is no victory...

I mean I can beat the tar out of them for awhile but they constantly come right back... I could get so far into beating bane that I can't get more points from it.... but I never cared much for that and the only one that see's my points is me... so who cares?

EA definitely needs better spawners. They have them but don't use them.

Banespawn could be like a championspawn, getting more difficult in level and if defeated is off for a day or so.
Or use spawners you can push back, making it more dynamic and meaningful.

Excuse for this Magincia thing is though that most likely EMs set it uo who don't know the spawners so well.

Yeah thats why I mentioned the old Britain Invasion of... 2005? They had that system set up where you could actually beat them back for a while. It was a 'victory'.

Yeah - that was fun and I agree with the remarks on the spawn system. It was possible to maintain a victory feeling for more than a second or two.

Exactly.

For PvM'ers and/ or collectors, re-tag a Staff of Pyros as a Repond slayer. Have any weapon, really, and just re-tag it. A 'Sword of the Bane Chosen' with no properties, just pop in whatever weapon it is and mark it accordingly. Whatever. People just like to collect things, it gives them a new reason to log in.

I appreciate the arc is moving along, I just think it should be more thought out in fact what draws people to do these things. Just my opinion, of course.

Spawn "X" number of each, and when they are all defeated, its done with. And there is some kind of goal, something happens, not just empty ground again.
You're right, there needs to be a reason. Especially considering the length of time it takes to kill one of the ridiculously high HP blackrock golems that have no loot on them. Missed a player run event last night cause we were halfway thru killing one, and didnt want to lose the enormous time invested already. I for one, just knew there had to be some kinda big reward on that booger LOL.

For me, when I run into one like that, that is so overpowered, the event falls quite flat for me, I'd rather just go do t-maps, at least I feel like I'm accomplishing something ;)

Yup - I'll take any number of gray robes on a T-Hunt (especially from AWs) because I have a crack at something nice out of the chest. But nailing something that takes lots of time and effort to find nada just turns me off.

But I have no problem in a situation like that of playing rez/healer to any other who wish to do it "just because". It's their choice and I'll help in any way I can even though I am not impressed.

Uh, it took me 15mins to kill one Blackrock Golem...sampire, and it had nothing but 1900gp and about 6 crappy items on it. Totally not worth it. It casts mystic spells, kinda surprised when their bombard actually para'd me, probably once in the 15mins of casting...lol.

As it stands right now unless they turn off the spawn then there is no way any shard will clear Magincia. We watched a Sammy try to take one down and all he said was OooOooOoo. Took 6 CUs with healing to drop them in about 10-15 min each. We tried all pets and CUs lasted a lot longer than even a GD. Pets and summons for the win.

seems a little overkill to me. But i did go, and tried to see what it was all about.
It's Kinda like trying to kill a greater dragon.. Naked.

I see no reason to go back. a waste of time for me
I went by personal boat, finally landed on the N. side of the island - took so long, I missed a re-run of I love Flicka on retro tv

On Baja we kept killing them and more respawned. No way in H3LL you can take them out as long as they respawn.

Yes there dead on GL ..was interesting to kill them.
But ya nothing good and no reason to kill them it seems..
Messana was just starting to add the spawn the day i met her there..
All she said was it was for some event the next day..Thursday...

But that was all she said...i have asked the DEV,s in there little chat world and no responce yet of whats going on with the event and Banes..

Or what there building plans are for Magincia..just hope its not the same old buildings replaced in same spots...

On Baja last night, not only did we have this spawn in Magincia, the EM's also popped it at Yew Prison as part of the EM event. For 5 hours I did nothing but kill a handful of Blackrock Golem. I look forward to the end of the Blackrock Golems.

They seem to be a bit hard, especially for the reward they give. I just stood back and let more competent players get killed.

What is worse about the BR eli is they are now immune to bard skills. Think they are trying to empower dexers with some good old toe to toe while cross healing.

Ya if there was that 1 in 20 or 30 had some unique bling then there would be a shard party there. Someone on LS pulled a ring off a demon that would never been made in arty form. Although I have pulled a war fork off a demon in fire that was 50DI 50lightning 30SSI UBWS 13HCI. RNG is funny like that.


Just to bad the Mag event wasn't a reverse of the destroy one. Building rubble found on the spawn. Collect 5 and turn into the NPC get a reward bag with 1 in 2000 chance a random item type with 600 points modable. Some new town building/deco gets added to it. So players rebuild the city at there pace before defeating the spawn as end game and NPC vendors are placed. The end game for the event could of been another shard competion. Ranking of fastest shard with unique statue in center of town boasting that shards activeness. How cool would be the statue random generated server up a skill discord 10 spaces around it lowering the skill 20 points for training. Higher ranked statues maybe an extra skill or three reflecting shard rank. Just needs to be close to the water with an marble bench/anvil.

What bothers me about the event is that, unless the rumoured EM involvement does come to pass on Thursday, there's absolutely no way to measure if you're even helping or not. I don't care about rewards as such, but my anti-Bane character had hit the previous negative relationship cap from just idly training his pets on the Bane outside of Sacrifice... but that cap hasn't even been increased either. So it's not possible for the Bane themselves to notice what I'm doing. I suppose I could keep killing them so the Meer and the Ophidians like me even more; could we save Magincia by getting other races to rebuild it for us? But on Europa, with the Blackrock Elementals gone, there's more daemons and hell hounds than Bane... and as the Bane are still outside Sacrifice, why would you bother fighting in Magincia to do that?

Of course, I'm assuming this might be the logic behind the event; an increasingly pointless, unrewarding fight against the Bane... but whilst that might be "Humble", it's atrocious game design because of that lack of any kind of player feedback which would keep us interested.

Wish there was some fiction on this new deal tho. What seems strange to me is Bane Dragons still flag on chars loyal to the Bane in Magincia. I can stand in the camp in Spirit and nothing flags. But go to Magincia and get flagged on quickly. The Daemons too.
