I was wondering if anyone else had thoughts about pets that instantly log out when their master logs outs.

My opinion is, that if pets are flagged for combat, they shouldn't instantly poof as soon as their master logs out. It's almost an art for for a variety of characters to log out the instant they die, but the most egregious seem to be PvPers and their pets & faction warhorses, and people who ride swamp dragons.

Now, I can understand why the feature is in the game. "Lost" pets are a pain in the butt, and it's definitely nice for crafters and such to not have to worry about stabling all the time.

But come on, if you send your GD into a mass of monsters and it's about to die, you shouldn't be allowed to save it just by clicking "log out"- tamers have enough advantages that they can learn to fight with their pets properly. If someone chooses to get the defensive bonuses associated with riding a swamp dragon, they should also have to deal the consequences of going into battle with a live mount. I mean, not only do they get to save their pets, they can get them right back by re-logging, without even leaving the spawn area.

To me, the biggest problem though, are faction pvpers who use their mounts to their advantage - especially against non-faction people because there's no stat loss penalty. So, if they get killed, they log to save their pets, and are rezed and back in the fight in a matter of seconds (even if they have to leave the area). So they have the benefit of inordinately strong horses (for non-tamers) that they can re-mount with no delay, and also get to save them from death by logging? I mean, at least make them go get a pet-rez before re-entering a fight. PvP tamers are even worse. Saying nothing about what people think of taming is in PvP, allowing them to save their pets by simply logging out as soon as they die is just lame.

Does anyone else see this as a problem and/or just plain stupid? My suggestion is pretty simple; just make pets like people. If they are not flagged for combat (or mounted), then they log out instantly with their masters. If they are flagged for combat, they stay for 2 minutes.

Also get those times when you crash and the pets go to the stable leaving your arse to the four winds.
