Mage weapons

I am practicing playing a tamer with a mage weapon to benefit from dci on my suit. What I am finding is that I am auto attacking while I am trying to heal my pets and flagging vs the monster. Is there any way to disable this?

Its a little odd as I used to hold a dagger as part of my luck suit but this never was an issue. (I am currently using the swords of prosperity) I suppose its because I never hit with the dagger as it was spell chanelling but did not have mage weapon. I just don't seem to remember seeing the graphics of the attacking motion.

The only difference is that I am now playing using the EC client.

You will auto attack if you have been damaged by the monster, aggressed by the monster, dealt damage to the monster, or cast any harmful spells on it. My guess is that you are doing one of those things. I use the Swords of Prosperity with my tamer and do not auto attack unless I do one of the above.

Even though you may have not noticed the attack motion before, the reason you may be noticing that now is that you are using a mage weapon and have a much higher chance to hit the monster (assuming you had no fencing skill while using your dagger previously).

I concur with Barry.

Your best bet is to stay one step further back (healing & vet has a range of 2 steps for normal healing curing, 1 when rezzing). If you have magery, and are using the EC, just set up a hotkey for invisibility (targeting yourself), and hit that key whenever you start swinging. Protection would also be good (to keep from that invis being interrupted).
