Mage weapons - xx

I am new to game. Some friends are telling me mage weapons - whatever don't work for archery. Is this true?


I am a crafter with magery and want to kill valorite elementals.

Trying to figure out how. I had in mind finding a elemental mage weapon bow. Maybe thats not going to do it. Would staff of pyros get the job done? I cant see standing toe to toe with these, htey hit for 50.

Maybe with staff of pyros i would dodge some?

Remember though, if it says mage weapon -27, you lose 27 to your magery skill and that is both your casting ability and weapon ability. To go from 100 to 73 really isn't going to help you.

The artie mage weapons are nice; however, are generally too specialized to use on val elems. Simply put, just get a dexer/archer an when ya pull a val, bring them over.

Your best bet is to drop the magery go chivarey and take up archery/tactic(forcing the 2nd mule on account) and use an earth elemental slayer bow/ You can woop these bad boys down in 2-3 hits all chived up!
My miner looks like this

100 mining
120 smithy
100 archery
100 tactic
80 chivalrey
100 armslore
100 focus

If you have a magery book with a bonus+10 and a jewlery set+30 you can still cast all the suit augmenting spell Magic relection/protection/reactive armour from scrolls!

I use an elemental slayer heavy crossbow with -24 Magery on it and little else.

It puts me at 81 skill, and I seem to hit the val ele's fine. As far as I can tell they're no harder to hit than earth ele's, which is what I tested the bow on, they just take more hits to drop. Also I've heard earth ele slayer bows work on ore ele's, which seems to be the case, so I don't think you need to seek out a super slayer.

It takes a while, but Earthquake spell will drop a Valorite ele
