Delusions of Granduer I suppose on the empty promises (4 years ago) of high resolution graphics.
UO will always be home and I'll probably still have one account active when the day comes EA decides to pull the plug on UO.
With the work Pinco has done the UI is fine. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the UI if your using Pinco's. It's got all kinds of features for anyone who takes the time to learn what they are.
To beat a dead horse...
The only issue I have with Ultima Online is that the game looks atrocious (Ultima 8-low resolution graphics) and because it looks atrocious UO is unable to attract new players and the net result is the game is emptying out. It's a downward spiral. Less players means we get even less staff, support, and resources.
How the #$%^ does a game go from high resolution to low resolution? That is thee stupidest move in all 15 years of Ultima Online.
I still enjoy the content in UO but when I run around do things in game I'm reminded the game looks like hell compared to what we had with KR. UO could be 10X better than what it is today. When the "SA Client" was announced I was elated that we were going to have a client even better than KR with even better graphics instead we got the opposite.
Seeing the KR high resolution graphics on wikipedia is what got me back playing Ultima Online and I loved it.
I'm of the firm belief that if UO looked like Titan Quest it would still be a viable MMORPG instead of on the brink of extinction.
The reason I get irate is the game is going to hell and it didn't have to be this way.
You can't keep doing the same thing over and over expect a different result (supporting an almost 20 year old client).
I love Ultima Online and it saddens me to see the game go down the tubes because the graphics are outdated.
The vast majority of gamers are going to check out screenshots and gameplay on youtube before ever trying a game. I know I'll be doing that before I sign up with SoTA.
With all the games on the market there is no way a significant amount of players are going to start playing UO in it's current state...that's the reality.
I'll continue to chime in and raise hell in client converstations because the CC client with it's outdate graphics is an effin' abomination and is going to be the death of UO.
