Macros and Char Data problems!

Okay so there's probably a really obvious solution to this which I'm missing so sorry in advance BUT this has been driving me nuts!


I recently re-activated an old account which has a character named Jasper.

On my main account, I also have a character named Jasper!

So the problem!

All the Char Data from the one on my MAIN account affects the one on my SECOND account.

Anything I do on one Jasper from moving spell icons and macros to UO settings is then apparent on the other when I next log in.

What I know so far:-

- Both Jaspers are running off the folder in my MAIN account profile.

- The second accounts profile is ignored completely.

- The spelling of the file names (username, shards etc) is all correct.


Someone please help!

I would hate to have to buy a name change token just because of some minor programming hiccups!

Try unchecking 'Use Default Desktop'. I know same character names on the same account have that problem but on different accounts the unchecking should help.

** UPDATE **

Something else I just noticed!

When I log out on the Jasper on my SECOND account, the username of my FIRST account appears on the
log in screen, where as it SHOULD have the username of my SECOND account automatically there if I log out from a character from my second account.

Did you shut down your client all the way after unchecking them change each desktop to the way you wanted it? I think after you open up using the default and close it still overwrites what's in the actual account/character folder. Uncheck both accounts if it has default desktop checked. Then make a little change to the desktop, like putting up a different spell icon on each. Then log out of each and shut down the client.

I am just shooting in the dark of course.

That extra part you added sure sounds like a default desktop thing. But, again, I could be way off base.

This does this on me also when I did a char on Test on another account with the same name. Sure does make you wonder when it happens.

Oh I had a similar problem to this. Can't remember exactly what I did....Was a while back.

Sorry for the bump but it seems no one seems to have a solution to the problem so I am going to try and raise some awareness on the problem here!


Please Devs, this should be a simple matter of changing the order of directories in which chat data is searched for upon log in!

Dain, a while back (12/16/2008), a change was made to the 2D and KR clients to make them save your characters' macros in a folder under My Documents. For example, on one of my laptop computers, account, shard, and character folders are now located underneath Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Legacy\User Data.

Make sure you're not looking at the folders and macros where they used to be located, e.g., under Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online The Eighth Age\Desktop. You'll still find data there, but it is no longer being used.

I believe the location change was made to address a problem with Norton 2009 wiping out the configuration files.

Are yes I am aware of this, in order to prevent confusion I did in fact delete the "Desktop" file I previously used, probably just under 3 months ago now.

The information I have provided has been from the My Documents/EA Games/UOLegacy/User Data folder.
