Loss of a Veteran Player

[Cuprium]

For those of you who know her, the player known on the Stratics boards as Calliope, a Guardsmen of Yew player (on Europa), Gilfane (Siege Perilous), Paladin Brigade of Justice player (Lake Superior) and veteran UO player through all the single games and UO continuously since its release, has unfortunately passed away. She played under multiple accounts but with most notable characters being Passerby, Mylanthe of Yew, Amethyst, Cameron, Bede, Alexander Fraser, Diamond Steel, Verity Sands, Yandros, Fianna, Cutting Edge, Angharad and Nighthawk.

All the guilds she has belonged to will miss her, as will her family (Unity guild, Crusaders of Truth guild, Unity Exiles amongst others). Her enjoyment and enthusiasm trapped us all into having our own UO accounts and playing family events over quite a few years. UO will never be the same.

Sometimes it is easy to forget there are rl humans
behind all the /posters/chrs. we meet in UO or these forums.
Our rl lives are fragile/temporary on this planet,
even if/when we are in the best of health,
someone whom was with us today or for years,
may not be here with any of us tomorrow.

There is a memorial building on Siege, perhaps those of you whom knew
her chrs. in Gilfane and on Siege, may have some memories that you can post in some player written books.
Perhaps Kelmo can add those mementos or memories
into the Aeric Horn Memorial building,
with players' memories of Folger of Iantown, and AericHorn.

As well as being a staunch ally, teacher and sister-in-arms in game, in real life she was also larger than life, the best mother-in-law you could wish for. The game will never be the same without her on call to get me out of trouble and on our weekly excursions. She is sorely missed by us all.

We've lost a lot of people over the years. Some of them had closer friends here than in their real lives. That is a particularly sad thing.

There are never words to replace someone you love, but many of us feel your sadness at the loss of your friend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those responsible for the Yew memorial 'stones' placed on Europa at 38o 29'N 31o 55'W, it is just right, I think Calliope would have loved it.
