I didn't know what the rate was. But looking at the GL forums, I can see there is quite a difference from here to there.
* years ago, a million gold went, on E-bay I think, for 18 dollars I believe. Now, it is $.90. Talk about inflation.

Tis ok. I needed the gold to start a char. Didn't know the going rate.
It is way more difficult to start out new on siege then a production shard, thats for sure. Can't buy cloth, can't sell to vendors, can't buy up skills. etc. Pain.

20 to 1 isn't that far off now. Production shard gold is worth about 40 cents per million.
