Well i don't know if you can do something like that but maybe you can do in this way:
you make a list of item with their number
you drop a book inside a bag in the vendor with one number
people will buy books with number but they will not know what they are buying
then, after their give you the book with number, you can deliver the item.
I know it's a bit long as method but maybe it can works
P.s: Or maybe you can sell boxes closed with a key. you drop the key in the same bag so after they bought the bag, they can open the box
