Lockpicking Skill Gain...Best Way

I'm a returning player from around 1999 - 2002.

My lockpicking is at 85.

What is now the best way to get to GM. I would rather bank sit and work on my LP rather than travel to LP houses and/or town/dungeon boxes.

Every website and forum post I read tells me something different, probably due to the fact LP has changed...but I'm not sure which advice to follow.

fastest way:

Get your own LP boxes to train.

Get at least 1 gm tinker box, and one at 75 tinker.

Train on the GM tinker box as long as you can stand it at bank, if that is what you want - but you can only reach 75 real skill that way.

Then (or right from the start, for that matter) go to the Twisted Weald (where the Swoop is), and get a satyr to discord you - you will have to somehow invis (best to have someone invis you) for a second, then come back visible, or step outside the weald as it chases you, then step back in immediately.

This will temporarily drop your skills by about 20% while you remain in Line of Sight of that satyr. Train skill using your 75 skill tinker box (and try the GM tinker box if you have plenty of picks) the rest of the way.

More dangerous, is to try to get a PARAGON Satyr to discord you, as it will drop your skill closer to 28-30% (less skill, means faster gains). However, it will be VERY hard to outrun the paragon long enough to invis or leave & come back, and live. You'll almost certainly have to use the 75 skill box with a paragon.

I am currently training up lockpicking and I am at 99 and gaining.

The 75 box to get you up to near 80 skill. Then, the GM box will take you all the way to 95, but VERY slowly. After that do the the twisted weald as Basarsa stated, and use the 75 box again to go to GM, while discorded.

Oh, I just hit 99.3 skill.

when you hit 99.5 fine some level 2-4 maps to decode every day for GGS.
