lockpicking is stuck

hello all i have been working on lockpicking and it isn't as bad of a skill to gain as i thought it would be but now i have gotten it up to 80 and it has come to a dead stop. i just went through 275 picks without a gain at all. and i was wondering if that is normal? if so is there anything i can do to speed it up? all advice will be greatly appreciated.

T-hunters could probably give better advice, but let's see what we can figure out.
Are you using tinker crates? They should be like 20 over your skill, I think. Are you picking spawning chests? They should take you to gm. Maybe obtain/steal/buy a paragon chest, and try that.

first make sure you have picking pointed up and another skill pointed down or have skill points left to gain with
get a gm made lockable chest and pick at it
or
go to dungeons like despise and begin picking all those

what level chest are you picking now (and are you opening them or is the pick just breaking if so get easier chest )

I GMd lockpicking in the yew crypt. There is a room with three chests that respawn. It takes quite a while, but it can be done in that one room.

well i made a carp/tink with 50 in each skill and made myself some boxes at first that took me to about 50 or 60 then i went to a library outside of cove trammel with lockpicking boxes of different levels and that took me to 80 but now i have working on boxes in vesper bank which i can not pick but have gone through a few hundred picks with no gain. and i have tried gm boxes made by a gm tinker/carp and i pick those with on try.

you want to use the GM made boxes these will take you to 95 even if you are able to pick them just keep doing them over and over and YOU WILL get gains it just starts to slow at that level ... if you are trying to pick bank boxes and are breaking picks and not opening them then they are to high for you to get gains off of ...
after 95 you will only get gains from dungeon chests and thunt chests

Unless you go into twisted weld and get yourself discorded by a satyr and pick while under the skill lowering effects of the disco.

Here's the link to the essay for the twisted weld method should you decide to use it. Only changes I made to it were going in earlier (Somewhere around 80-85), and since it's no longer target based I just used one box and set up a macro to pick, then relock it.

thats true but then your skill would not be 95 I wish i had thought of that when I did it
