Locking down gozas?

I saw in one of the topics around here that someone mentioned locking down gozas so you don't have to re-place them every time you customize a house. I'm a bit of a customization addict, so I redo mine a lot. I'd like to be able to you know, NOT have to redo my stairs every time I want to work on a design.

So, did I imagine that post, or is there really a way to lock these damn things down?
