Esteemed Commander,
I’ll be happy to report my health is slowly returning. My left hip and thigh still bleed through the stitches and I am in need of a walking stick to get about, but otherwise I am back to my command post. My darling Kayla worries I am taking on too much, too fast, but threats from Bedlam are still on the rise. Skimming through the patrol logs of my troops, I have noticed that my lieutenant, Lt. Baggins came upon a strange sight; the remains of the demonic ritual in the Abandoned Pyramid just south of Umbra. I have spoken to Creighton and he confirms Lt. Baggins’ report that he suspects foul play may be at hand, and he doesn’t doubt that it comes from Ilhenir or those that serve him. Something is definitely stirring near that pyramid, and we must include it in our patrols. Meanwhile I seek information. I spoke at great length with Mistress Aernya, but she seems a bit tight-lipped about it all. Sometimes I wonder if she welcomes the presence of the Guard at all. She certainly has strong opinions about the current seated Crown, especially when it comes to taxes. But alas, we’re not tax-collectors, thus I keep reminding her.
I too fear, like Lt. Baggins, that our world is on the edge of a great teethering danger that could potentially destroy our civilization.
Your humble servant,
Capt. Kalmar Erikkson, RBG
Umbra Regiment
