Let the Games Begin

Dramora

Journeyman
Stratics Veteran
Stratics Legend
The stars were bright and the Yew woods full of the sounds of night.

Dramora sat on the porch of the Yew house, feet up on the railing, sipping a rare glass of wine. One good thing about living near a tavern, if she wanted a glass of something, she didn’t have far to go. There was a slight chill in the air, and she shivered just a bit, although, whether that was from the air, or the evening's exploits, she had no idea.

The evening had been interesting, to say the least.

Clive started right off insisting that Aedon give him the book, and was none too happy when Aedon informed Clive he “lost” it. Clive didn’t believe him, and told Aedon he was not equipped to protect it. When he had discovered it was Dramora who had the book, he issued the same warning; she would not be able to protect it. When she told him she was fine, he shrugged and turned away.

The air in the tavern got decidedly cooler the minute Penrose walked in.

Unfortunately, he sat next to Dramora, who spent the time either trying to lean away from him, or watching both Penrose and Clive carefully. There seemed quite the chess game going on between the two of them, neither one wanting to give way. Finally, after some notes were passed back and forth, the two came to some sort of agreement. With any luck, Clive will share that agreement with her and Aedon.

Dramora did feel the need to jump to Aedon’s defense when Penrose threatened his life. All it did was make Penrose laugh at the thought.

If Penrose wasn’t enough to set Dramora’s nerves on edge, Mikael walked in. Aedon immediately gave her a grin, and went to speak with him, inviting him to share their table. It was obvious Mikael had read the note she had sent him last evening, as he kept stealing looks at her when he thought she wasn’t looking.

Clive took his leave, carrying the note with him, but for some reason Penrose stayed.

Dramora was quite surprised when she heard a whisper in her ear. She’d turned briefly to see who had spoken, and saw no one. Listening carefully, she heard Clive tell her she and Aedon were in danger, and to make sure neither were alone with Penrose.

She definitely felt like her life was spiraling out of control, and she had no way of stopping it.

There were too many games being played, and she had never been good at playing games. All she could hope was at the end of everything, she was still alive.

Dramora,
Mistress of Virtue,
