Legal or Exploit?

So a account was not paid and a house went Slightly, right before or soon after it went Slightling a co-owner placed some vendors and stacked them with cash...

The house went IDOC then it went Like New Owned by OSI, and now every week it goes IDOC to Like New.

Is this an exploit to keep the house from falling or is this type of "stradegy" of keeping a plot allowable?

a co- owner can not place vendors in a house they do not own. Only a house owner can place vendors, or rented vendors

Well I dont know if it was co-owner, or owner...

The point was that they took everything out of the house (of value) then stacked the vendors with tons of cash and nothing on him so the house wouldnt fall

Is that Legal?

I would call It an exploit, and heard this or some variation was used often to secure homes while the account was not active.

No matter if it is being used for saving a home or to block somebody's efforts to place I would call it a EXPLOIT.

that I don't know sorry. but usually if a house goes idoc and the owner placed vendors and there is no rentals on the plot, the vendors go when the house goes. This is the first time I heard this happened. I been at quite a few where the house goes and the vendors go and their packs are on the ground with a checks in them. I think the most checks I got off of one vendor was 3 mil.

I am curious how you -know- they put tons of gold on them, since only the owner of the vendor would have that knowledge. Hmmm...

I think the real question isn't whether it's legal or an exploit, but why it says "Owned by OSI" and why vendors are still allowed there.

I like Kat's response about how you know what happened and how much cash it was stacked with..Hmm sounds like to me you are fishing with your own exploit to find out if your tactics are legal or not. Oh and what the hell is Stradegy anyway is that a new Bushism for strategery or something? I always thunk it was Strategy? Oops I mean thought!!

I don't think it is an exploit. It might not be the nicest way to play, but an exploit? No, I don't think so.

Oh, also, you can't place a vendor on a property that is in decay. The owner would have had to have placed the vendors, as someone already mentioned. Sounds like the owner must have placed another house somewhere, causing that one to begin to decay.

The house will fall. The owner cannot rescue it now that it is OSI. Just keep an eye on it.

Hmm.... perhaps the owner got banned? Might that have caused it to go into immediate decay, since the owner was obviously around to place vendors, according to the op?

This isn't an exploit. Simply contact a GM telling them it's going idoc and owned by OSI.

I think you need to wait until the vendor contract runs out (max of a month) then the house will fall.

Nah, simply contact a gm and the vendors will fall at the end of the current cycle with the house.

I did this for fun cause everyone on stratics says to do this if you find a OSI owned house. Guess what? I got canned spam gms are not able to help you with that.

Maybe it is just because I am on siege that gms don't care anymore. Scripters, hackers anything they never show up on siege.

There are two houses owned by osi on siege, they are both 7x7 and probably have nothing in them, but I did it for the hell of it. I was in the mood for canned ham.

I usually don't have a problem but that's happened to me several times. I just went to the website to report the bug on shard/coords/facet. The house fell.

It's using the game mechanics as designed. That's the way it was coded, so that's the way ya play it

Just my opinion, but seems fair enough to me if thats the way it works.
I remember watching OSI houses cycle for up to a year before they finally fell. Just part of the game.

I am assuming they stacked it with a ton of cash because he has nothing to sell and the vendors never quits while the house goes thru endless cycles...so I dont KNOW he did this

That is the common response from people who take advantage of or (exploit loop holes) in game mechanics.

If the the account was banned or is no longer being paid for, the house should fall within the normal span.

Deliberately forcing your home into OSI state to either keep your housing spot or block placement for a longer than normal span while the account is not being paid for is clearly an exploit.

The house will still fall if the owner has a vendor. It will only go to OSI if it has a rental vendor on the plot. Then you have to give time for the person to claim thier gold and/or items. Some houses are bugged and go to OSI and stay that way forever. I know of 3 that have been owned by OSI for over a year. I have paged on them before, they say that they will look in to it, after a year it's still there. So goodluck!!!

OSI state is simply caused by rented vendors only. The vendors owned by the owner will drop immediately with the normal span, or will drop when the last rented vendor's time runs out. According to my knowledge the rented vendor time span in the house sign to reclaim your belongings is 168 hours exactly. The time it takes for that 168 hours to expire is 168 hours + the added server maintenance downtime each day. So, if your waiting on an OSI home and you just watched a rented vendor fall in you know you have 168 hours + the server maintenance downtime each day to wait for that house to fall given that the vendor that fell into the sign was the last rented vendor. Another interesting little tip to OSI homes is that the waiting time period for placing does not exist. You could replace almost exactly as the OSI house falls if your watching it that closely. Once a home is in OSI state old IDOC rules no longer apply the house does not follow the original falling on the condemned state of IDOC. It will fall immediately after that vendor expires from the sign regardless of what state it is in. So, really you only need to wait out that rented vendor which could be as long as 1 month + 168 hours + the added server maintenance time. I hope that helps all of you.

2. I thought Origin did not own Ultima Online any longer, yet things become OSI owned.

I just think its kind of funny.
