Hi all, was just looking for suggestions on leather farming. Leather of the spined/horned/barbed variety that is. What are the good hunting spots and methods?

Leather farming.

Depending on how your shard is, Fel ice dungeon is perfect for barbed leather. The white wyrm there will drop 40 barbed leather (44 on a human) per kill. Respawn rate is okay.
For horned, I enjoy killing raptors at Ter Mur. Only 10 per, but they will always call help, so you will get 30 per raptor you aggro. Use a reptile slayer weapon with whirlwind and you're set.
For spined, I'd look at Haven Mine level 2. Get a repond slayer to deal with the Ogre lords and slaughter the lizardmen there then.

Being a almost pure crafter who gathers all of his own materials I'm somewhat limited. I have my fire beetle which I trained up as best I could
Normal: Cows and bulls, Delucia and around is great for that. Good spawn rate and little to no risk, Fel for that double resources if you're on such a shard.
Spined: rat men in Ice, slow enough spawn rate I can keep my bug healthy and quick enough that I'm not waiting for them to spawn. Again, Fel if you're on such a shard.
Horned: gets tricky with a low HP bug but when I'm feeling brave I'll hit wyverns near the gypsy camps in the desert in Ilshenar, cant remember the correct name for the area though.
Barbed: another tricky one with the low HP bug but I try for the wandering nightmares to the far east of Umbra. This is difficult due to the other random spawn.
There are much better areas to farm if you have the skill set, the lizardmen at The Sleeping Dragon champ spawn for example. If you're quick at skinning, any area affect spell and you'll fill up your pack with spined in no time. It all comes down to your play style and the amount of time you want to put into gathering.

Bulls/cows, goats, llamas, pigs in abundance. Horses too if you don't mind the karma loss. Sheep give wool instead so don't bother with them. No bandits any more and some of the area in side guard zone. Using AoE spells with occasional fireballs for outliers, I can fill my pack (450 pieces) inside a minute but I do use a Harvester Blade. Just recall to bank and when you have a few k, load it all into a commodity deed.
The need for spined and barbed is much less now since most serious suit makers will plan on enhancing after making the piece they want.

archiv, with 0 taming and 2 free control slots you can also control a boura. They should have the HP to tank tougher game.
Spined - I rarely need it in bulk these days. Can gather it casually off the lizardmen in level 1 wrong, while still having a shot at shame-type loot and anti-virtue artifacts.
Horned - Wyverns in level 3 destard. While farming the ancient wyrm there for barbed, enough wyverns will join the fight that you're farming horned as well. Also, anti-virtue artifacts.
Barbed - Shadow Wyrms in level 2 Destard, ancient wyrm in level 3. Shadow wyrms drop easy nowadays and you have a big area to fight them in. AW to mix things up. Also, anti-virtue artifacts. Can also farm the AWs in ilsh for paragons.
All leathers - Do a reptile champion spawn and cut/drop leather as you go. Collect it all after the champ is dead. Can get several thousand assorted leathers this way.

I'll look into this one, I'm somewhat limited to what I use by what's for sale at the Market Stables. Sounds like a good idea though, something that will make my change-of-pace leather hunts a little less stressful.
