[Discussion] Learn Imbuing for unraveling?

I am collecting a lot of magic items from monster bashing. Currently I unravel those to sell the residue.

Does it make sense from a sales perspective to train Imbuing purely for the sake of being able to unravel to essence or fragments instead of residue?

I am not looking to skill up a mule, I would be purely interested in selling the magic "trash" off with best value.

Thanks for helping a newb...

Do you get a lot of items that you are unable to unravel at your present skill.

Those would be the items that may give you relics or essence, take a look at vendors around Luna on your shard as relics on my shard are down to 100k and there seem to be many vendors with them for sale.

So you have to decide if the time spent to get your skill high enuf to unravel would be time well spent to get the return from these as you will either have to undersell your competition to get sales or have them sit on your vendor for inderterminite amount of time.

Flip side though is if you get your skill high enough you might imbue items with these items that might net you more coin.

Thank you for your valued feedback!

I am currently throwing away 10-20% of my loot because of the lack of Imbuing skill, which hurts the dormant vendor in me (Even more so as it obviously tends to be the higher quality stuff). That was what drove me to this forum... I guess I will just give it a try. :)

Is there some kind of "expected conversion" rate from these items to relics or essence? I am not thinking of exact figures, but am I to expect to unravel 1000s of such items for one essence, or is the turnover better?

(To get an idea of the quality of my source items: I am primarily hunting creatures in the range of Daemons, or lesser Dragons).

P.S.: I promise to move this topic to the appropriate forum after this question. ;-)

Probably u won't get any relics at all from that source of loot.
