Last Patch - small tweak or Huge nurf?

just started noticing this. I use Hiding a Lot. My usual is: get poisoned, run, apply aid, hide - MANY times I can only hide, and just let the poison countdown wear off by itself.
died twice today, in regular hunting grounds, same old mobs, poison damage was revealing me, and I was getting instantly re-targeted by the same mob that poisoned me. After the 2nd death, more aware, I kept an eye on what happened when I got poisoned, it's clear something was 'tweaked'.
Any one else notice this?

Poison damage reveals the target, with each tick. It is a good way to fight the NPC Ninjas in Tokuno.

When the bandaid completes it timer, you are revealed. There were several changes to Healing made in the last Publish: which is probably why you are noticing this.
I went back and Re-read, sorry you'll have to point it out to me.
So, what is this, some More PVP rules inflicted on All of us?
cause the only mobs complaining were trolls

yet another reason I'm quitting, my understanding is least LOTRO don't play that balance BS

well, then it must have been BROKEN. Probably every day for the last couple years, I am poisoned, hidden, and Not revealed, many times a day.
Yeah, depends on how much damage I'm taking, normally, only the highest level would reveal me, and then not always.

So you got an unannounced BUG fix, y'all send 'em a cookie, I'll send 'em a some dog poop

As far a hiding I cant say but on my bard I tend to cast invisi alot to save points on peace, and when I am poisoned every tick reveals and retargets me on the casting mobs. It has always been this way. Same with explosion, reveals and retargets.

They do, just with you being locked into a class with a set group of skills available, it's easier when they go to balance one class it doesn't effect everyone else, and in general when they do balances they actually make sense.

This reveal mechanics was here even pre-patch (but it is was a new thing for me because i left around 2008 and it didn't worked like that back then).

Poison, bleed, strangle... anything that does this kind of damage over time reveals both the caster and the target (and interrupts meditation also: so if you cast a fire field on a mob you can't hide or meditate).

I bet it's a pvp fix 'cause in pvm hide-casting was funny and required some skill but it wasn't a viable way to kill high-end spawn, unless you had 72 hours in a day.

I guarantee you that it was not broken.
And if you are leaving Ultima Online because you cannot fight monsters without hiding then you are not going to have any success in any other game.
There are character templates you can build that keep you out of danger for the most part taking little to no damage whatsoever that do not require you to hide for any reason. You probably made up your mind about quitting before posting about this bogus issue though.
I wish you luck in finding a game that suits your play style.

This. As someone who had played a thief for a long time, this has been around since before I quit at Mondain's Legacy. It's why reds threw down poison fields at champ spawns when the champ was going down.

While everyone seems to think that taking damage auto-reveals you I can say that it is not always the case, I can remember countless times I would shank someone with a kryss, they would smokebomb (or what ever to hide) with lethal poison on them and start stealthing, i would get the message *insert name* spasms in pain, but they would not be revealed. Sometimes they would reveal but not always. Also I have EQ'd stealthers to death never once showing them until they died (had the guy on tracking so I knew he was there). I have wildfired stealthers without revealing them and I have conflagged stealthers without revealing them. I think the chance to be revealed is scaled off stealth. I havn't fought any stealthers the last few weeks so I can't really say if it's been changed but that's how I remember it being the last few years. I had complained about it (not offically) and in the end decided that I just have to track them.

Damage doesn't always reveal you, but it reveals you a lot of the time. I also almost always have hiding and stealth on my character, and she have been getting revealed from damage (usually poison) for ages.

thank you. yeah, I have a lot of issues w/ UO changes and just got tired of the never ending frustration. I made up my mind a little after the t-hunting change, but I still play every day, for now. I'm just an old school dexer - only the higher end stuff I don't fight, greater drags, 8 dark wisps ata time, slasher, lich lords, balrons, stuff like that. I have a play style, and I think I do it well, and now it's different (just since the patch). Maybe my char was bugged - I've Never before been revealed from 1pt of aura damage, from say a fire creature, just until the other day.

the damage reveals you based on your stealth skill (i believe if you only have hiding any damage tick reveals you, not 100% sure on that one though)

at 120 stealth you can sometimes take a full hit from EQ without being revealed (a good 40+ damage)

Also, bandages used to reveal you when you applied them, not when they completed, if they reveal on completion also now that's new.

Bandaid completion is not in the notes. It does not need to be in the notes. This is how it has always been. There are several actions in UO that take you out of hiding/invis. Bandage Completion and Fishing both do this at the end of their timers, always have.

Not so new then. They have revealed upon completion for years now.

really? i wonder if it was different on siege (that or maybe i just never stood still long enough to notice) I normally revealed to apply a bandage then went back into hiding, i dont remember it revealing again when it healed.

Bandages only reveal when you first use them, not after the timer has started.
It took some skill shuffling this morning, but I was able to test it out. I was wrong, bandages revealed me when used, not upon completed. I was not able to test out the behavior of hiding and being poisoned.

Just tried Part of this again, w/ goblin mages and ogre lords. repeatable
Poisoned, Hid, didn't apply aid, 4-6 poison ticks (counted each one), Not revealed
Poisoned, applied aid, hid, at least 1 poison tick, - BUT, it may have worn off before aid cured - Not revealed
Near death, not poisoned, hid, applied aid, Not revealed upon completion (still low on a few hp)
No stealth, hiding skill only

This is more like it Was
