Yeah, yeah I know at first someone may say "Why didn't you post this in the KR section"? Well, 95% of anyone I game with that uses Stratics reads stuff here, and I'm figuring since they (you) know me, you'd be more inclined to answer for me.

Question 1: I have found that there is a way to "lock" my chat window so that it does not move. I rather like that. The map however...is there a way to lock the "radar" map? Every time I choose to enlarge it, I can't get it to return to the "radar" mode. And I have to log out and in again to get that "radar" map back.

Question 2: Of coarse you can only go against the Challenger of New Haven if you create a toon under the KR client. Well, I did that. Now my question is, once I have that rune and stone that are given, can I log back in on the 2d client to easier skill up my toon to GM level, then return to the KR client to battle the Challenger of New Haven? Or will that null and void my rune?

Question 3: Without using any 3rd party program, is there a way to make a "Bandage Self" macro? If so, how? I've tried and I just can't seem to get it right.

I can't answer your first 2 questions, but the bandage self macro can be done. I just don't remember how, it's been half a year since I last used KR. (Not helpful either, but still better than saying "use 2D".)

As far as banage self macro in KR...I believe I read last week that it was broke.

Some problem with it counting all the bandages you have in the bank and backpack and maybe your house...then it can't find the ones that aren't in your pack! So it screws up!

Not going to shout 'use 2D' without at least an attempt at helping here.

- Don't put bandages in your bank, it glitches your bandage count. Then I think you can put bandies on one of your action bars, default theyre bound to the 1-9 keys I believe.

- Try out some UI mods. People have mentioned one called BB Enhanced that fixes a few UI issues.

- I think you should be fine in regards to accessing the old haven boss if you use 2D then go back to KR. If it isn't once per account, try doing it on a blank character.

- Go to the KR forums. You're more likely to find help than here.

Personally, i'm using 2D until SA comes out, as I know as soon as I get KR the way I like it, SA will come out and i'll have to start over.

Bob, as near as I remember, and I haven't tried KR in a while so it could indeed be broken, but to set up the Bandage Self Macro, it seems I did the following:

1. Drop a stack of bandages in your hot bar.
2. Right Click on the hot bar slot with the bandages.
3. You should get some sort of choice for target where you can set target self.
4. At one time you could also set key binding to choose a hot key to use.

Like I said, not at all sure this still works since I haven't tried it in forever. Well, not on a fighter anyway.

Not sure about the Dark Knight and I honestly don't remember on the radar map. Sorry.

Not sure how much help this will be as I use the BB skin and as mentioned above it has fixed a few of the issues in KR. Returning the map has two locations for me-there is a checkmark in the upper right that will close the full map back to radar mode and also a small version of the radarmap located on the map (this is located in the map upper right very hard to see) Again I run the BB enhancement so not sure if it helps or not.

What anne said is correct on getting a bandage self macro to work. Issues that i know of is the bank/bandies counts getting messed up, and when you run out of bandies I thought there was an issue with it as well needing the bandies to be refreshed in the hot bar (drag the new set into the hot bar)

All hot bars can have keys and target types assinged in this manner.

As for the 2d switch to raise skills, I wouldnt recommend it as you will have to fight it in the kr client and you will need to be familiar with your macros and how the client works.

And Mr. Pudding, don't worry...I'm not taking a liking to KR. I rather despise it. The only reason that I'm messing with it is to get one of the three rewards that the challenger of New Haven drops. For those that don't know that area where he is standing is where newly created toons appear. That is where a quick mini tutorial of UO happens, and where you receive a rune to come back later and fight the Challenger of New Haven when you feel ready. It did feel neat to finally get into that area. I had tried everything I could think of to get inside there on 2d. To my knowledge its impossible unless in KR.

It is impossible. I tried the same thing a few months back. That rune only works in KR for some reason. I tried to use it in 2D and got an error message telling me I was using the wrong client (I don't remember the exact wording). I also thought about using 2D to work up the character I wanted to take up against the dark knight, but got to training in 2D, and never went back to KR. I trashed my admission token and rune just last week while cleaning out my house.

Just keep one thing in mind, the reward you get for defeating the dark knight it random. So if it's the skill tutor statue you're after, you should have about a 33% chance to get it. But I hear it drops less than the ring and the staff, so you may want to think about doing the quest a few times if you really want one.

Here's some info I took from UOGuide.

Quest Bug:
Failing to an attempt to Recall using the special rune, or failing to beat the Knight on your first attempt, frequently makes the rune unusable. There is no fix for this; as only one rune can be acquired per character, the only way around it is to create a new one using the KR client and start from scratch.

Those who create a new character while using the Kingdom Reborn client are granted a special rune (titled "The Darkness") which can be used to battle the Dark Knight. Although they will need to gain some magical skills before they are capable of activating it, this is by no means a bad thing - the battle is well beyond the abilities of an untrained or unequipped player. Only the character who initially received the rune may use it.
Using the rune sends them to a small chamber where they wait in line to battle. Once the combat arena is free, they are then teleported to the Knight himself.
Upon the landing of a blow that would kill one fighter or the other, the player is instead teleported away. If the player wins for the first time, he or she is randomly rewarded one of three possible items - an Echo Staff, Ring Of The Servant, or Skill Tutor Statuette.

The Skill Tutor Statuette can be randomly awarded for defeating the Dark Knight. Only characters created using the Kingdom Reborn client can perform this battle, and an award can only be earned once. This is randomly chosen from a set of three and of these the Statuette seems the least likely to appear; it is therefore a very rare item.

Yeah, that was the same info that I found out as well. As I understand it (from a player I talked to in-game) the statue reward is even more rare than 33% something like a one in "ten" chance of it dropping. I'd be happy with the ring or the staff though.

Yeah, I read about the "glitch" of failing to slay the challenger on the first try. I looked up his stats and he doesn't seem all that crazy strong. I'd place him at the same strength of say a stone gargoyle or maybe a juka lord. Tough, yeah, but not "crazy strong". And if I do fail the first time, I'm gonna stone all my skills and re-create so I don't have to skill up again.

A note: I do believe I've discovered a tid-bit of info that I didn't see posted. I'm 99% sure that when creating a new character in KR if you choose "custom" instead of a pre-made template then you don't get to do the quest. I forget the exact wording I saw, but there was a "warning" about that when I went to make mine.

No, there isn't a way to lock the radar. You should not have any problems re-opening the radar though after closing the map.
How are you trying to get it back? Try both the key binding and the button on the menu bar.
Are you using any custom skins? If so, which one?

You can train in 2D if you'd like. There are issues with the rune, however. Do not try to recall off the rune unless you know you won't fizzle and are using the KR client, or you might get it stuck in a disabled state, and I don't think GMs can do anything to help (but if this happens, you should page a GM to try to get it fixed). If you are after a specific reward, and not just the fight itself, consider waiting. The FoF suggested that they might make it so you can select your reward in the future (but that might be months from now... or might end up being scrapped for any number of reasons).

Currently I'm trying to piece together a full virtue set of armor, it gives me something to do while skilling up. I've been killing ettins in despise. Are there better monsters to kill that would have a better chance of dropping the armor?

Any anti-virtue dungeon will give you the same chance of a drop. It's on a point system, so the faster you can take down spawn, the faster you'll get your drop. I've been training 2 fencers in shame for nearly 2 months now. (one just graduated to a golem because I'm sick of waiting to finish him.) On average I get a drop once a week. But then again it's not uncommon for me to spend 3 hours a day in there with an earth ellie slayer kryss and just circle the dungeon until my eyes bleed and my brain melts from boredom.

If I get any virtue pieces I'll let you know, just in case you need them.

Thank you Gildar for the info on the rewards. I am to impatient to wait though. hehe. And the problem I'm having (no, not using a skin) with the map is...when I go to full blown map, then back to "radar" mode....the map (I think) is appearing way off my screen somewhere, and I can't make it re-appear "on my screen" don't know how else to word that. Um...one time I was able to see just the very edge of the radar map, which is why I think its opening way off screen. I'm not using any third party programs, which limits any trouble shooting.

...ouch Black Sun...One drop a WEEK? Wow. I didn't realize that it took that long. so far I have the virtue helm, gorget, tunic, sollerets and I did the cloak quest.

Thank you very much for the feedback though. I don't think there is a "ettin slayer" do they fall under the repond category?

You can get them quicker, but it requires more farming. I've heard luck suits might help, but I can't confirm this. Fel dungeons have a double chance of getting a drop. But you have to keep one thing in mind too, right now I'm training 2 fencers. So my points are split, I'm effectively getting only half the drops I should. Also, I'm fighting things that are a little tougher to kill. The longer it takes to make that kill, the longer it takes to get that point towards a drop. I've had weekends where I've taken my tamer to fel despise and farmed lizard men for leather and gotten 3 drops in one day. It all depends on how fast you're killing. If you're out farming for that drop you can get them a lot faster than I do. I'm working skills, so the artis are just a bonus for me. If I focused on getting them, I'd get more than 1 a week.

I see what your saying Black Sun. I'm building a samurai-paladin template so...I don't know what would be the fastest thing I could kill. I've been killing ettins, maybe I should switch to lizard men though.

33% chance to drop doesnt mean each person trying has a 33% chance of getting... you win this round, math.
