Kinda OT...what kind of crafting do you do RL?

The last year with the stress of things in my life, I found a solace in working with metals, beads, etc., something that I had started doing when I was younger.

I used to love doing arts and crafts as a kid. Painting Christmas ornaments, staining glass ornaments, making all sorts of stuff. As I grew older, I've still been doing crafts, but lately, my drive has been to do jewelry, which is ironic, because I really don't wear much jewelry (especially earrings unless I buy titanium as I am allergic to nickle).. I figure I'm not the only one who enjoys it.

You can see some samples of my work here: http://kayhynn.etsy.com And I'll be adding more to it later.

But what about you guys? What kind of arts and crafts do you like to do when you can sit down and do it that is not decorating in UO :p If you have pics, share them too!

ooo good topic.. hehe I use to do a lot of jewelry making, woodworking, leather crafting and glass work. Somehow just dont have the patience for it the last few years though. I love your pieces though Cassie. :) Very nice work. Who do you go through for your supplies? I love Fire Mountain Gems. They always had what I needed and their prices are decent. I still get their catalogs and from time to time wonder when and if I will ever get back into it. Wish I had pictures of the things I had made in the past, but most were given away for Christmas and birthdays.
I still draw from time to time and save the drawings for something I might want to put onto a pc of wood, metal, or glass eventually. I've also kept all my jewelry items too, just in case lol.
One hobby I miss is photography and I dont mean snap the picture and get it developed or print it out, but I mean, literally taking the pictures, going into a darkroom and developing them myself. Recently I made a mini dark room for my kids in one of our extra closets and showed them how to develop the pictures they took using a pin hole camera made out of the round oatmeal containers. Then made a collage of all their little pictures.

Ohhhh Cassie! I LOVED the jewelry! Im a jewelry freak, especially earrings and even more so for jewelry adorned with stones and (believe it or not) Crystals! One of my favorite pastimes is searching for "Funky" earrings! Baciver every now and then will take me on a shopping spree for Funky earrings! LOL

I do alot of different crafts myself, including designing costumes and clothing, and recently designing photography backgrounds and props. This is one background I painted and a set I designed for a photo shoot I did this past weekend.

Cassie, would it be possible to get a customed designed pair of earrings? Im actually looking for "spider" earrings for a Christmas gifts. I want something really unique! Give me a yell and let me know.

Morgaine: do they have a web site? I use a lot of various local stores as well as eBay. One of my biggest, worst habits is retail shopping for beads/findings when I'm under stress. When my dad was first diagnosed with Cancer, I spent a decent amount then...then again each time things went downhill. So now I have a lot of pretty beads that I get inspiration to work with. A lot of what I have tends to be either nature based or the opposite and very goth based LOL. That and rosaries...I used to be Catholic and have been making some very nice ones for friends where they buy the beads and I put it together for them.

Crystal: That is a very nice background! And very nice props. Such a cute little girl!

I do do custom made ones. If you are on facebook you can find my stuff there as well...i'll have to link that when I can find the link. I can see what I can come up with for spider earrings..sounds fun!

I like this thread, great idea Cassie!

I do a lot of different things to occupy my mind and keep my hands busy. :D The top two, for me, is fine art and baking. I like doing beadwork, using material and pottery and sculpture. I've also done a lot of photography in the past and developed my own pictures. Blown the yolk and albumen from eggs, dried them out and painted them. You name it.

Here is some of my artwork;
