Ahoy Mates !!!!

I've been engaged in a little Pirate hunting lately.... The problem I am encountering is... I solo the crew, but cannot kill that Dastrdly Pirate. I have the taken the pirate quest and to no avail...that scoundrel still lives !!!!...I have tried all types of summoned spell castors, I have "scuttled" the ship and used a "Repond" spellbook. Fought the scalleywag for a hour, didnt eeven put a scratch on him.. I changed gears and used a "Repond" bow for 45 mins...still no luck...

Hail there fellow pirate hunter. It seems to me and my crew that pirates have become a good deal stronger of late. Perhaps as a result of the desire to protect the highly valued copper wire that they now smuggle. Two archers, a mage and a greater dragon; and we had our hands full.
My advice invite some friends to join your crew.

Try firing a few extra shots once you scuttle the Pirate, it has been my experience that the more damaged it's ship is the weaker the pirate becomes. This also seems to help with the constant firing Pirate ships do after a scuttling.

If you really wanna kill em take me along, I forget to drop my bow and kill em once they are on board my ship Doh! :)

Don't use a Greater Dragon if you have access to a high end tamer; the pirates have insane hit point regen, but very low damage output. Use a Mare/Rune Beetle or Bane Dragon instead for their much greater damage output. You can still loot the entire ship before they bring him down to being able to be captured, but it's a lot quicker than it would be with the Greater.

Volums - FTW

they are basically two mares who you can use without taming.

:gun:

I use my chiv, archer, alchy, fisherman with two volumns and can fairly easily put them in shackles.

I could even take off fishing and use bushi to deal more damage but its not really needed.

I have heard, and I'm not speaking from experience but from info from friends, that if you disarm the pirate, he becomes nearly invulnerable. Any chance that happened?

I do them with my archer solo and it does take a bunch of arrows, and I have done one since since the copper wire change and it didn't seem much different.

I gave up on capturing them some time ago and am only interested in the chest loot, so i just scuttle their boat, let the pirate beat on me and gather the stuff in the chests and leave him to his misery. Once the boat is scuttled, it decays in the same amount of time that a scuttled boat with a dead pirate or captured pirate does.
