Kepetch Ambushers

Hello everyone.

I am looking for locations where Kepetch Ambushers consistently spawn.

A Stratics post from back in September pointed me towards the desert in the Northeastern part of Ter Mur. But, no luck there.

I also had ran into a few around the bridge east of the Royal City. But I haven't seen them there in quite awhile, oddly enough since around the time I got the quest that requires finding them.

Anybody know of a place where they spawn consistently?

Also, I know they make a distinctive noise before they strike, but I do not play with sound. Is there some other way to find them?

Northeast of the Royal City, along the road is where they ambush me most

Those are the 2 places I found them at.

1) Near the bridge East of Ter Mu. But before crossing it. Around the outcrop of land south of the bridge.

2) North eastern desert. It's on the 3rd tier of the plateau, near the SE edge of that 3rd tier. There's a slope there that allows you to get to the 2nd tier.

And I think only the upper half of my ellipse actually has the ambushers, but it's the most consistent and "safest" place I've found them.

Hmm. I already see the critical errors I was making.

I didn't go deep enough into the desert.

And, worse, I was.... *coughs* I was kind of at or around the wrong bridge, I think.

The buggers are a pain to hunt if you are hunting them for the quest. I did it once, then stuck to doing the other same tier quests.

Best strategy against any ambusher (trap door spiders etc) is to throw down some paralyze fields once you hear them in the area, and also, if you earthquake, or throw down fire fields etc you can sometimes flush them, get their bar, and prevent their ambush! Sleep also works wonders (as in the mystic spell, although, real life sleep also seems to help).

Dude I don't know why anyone doesn't play with sound, get yourself some headphones? But without sound you can usually tell when your health bar drops 40%.

Advantage of sound, of course, is that I'm actively looking for them.

Back with Win98 I used to start WinAmp first so I could listen to music, and there was only one channel for sound so no UO sound, so I disabled it.

Ten years later, I can't stand UO with any sound, so I keep it off all the time.

I like to toss out a coulple of ev's and then walk around to reveal them and then run up the road and invise. then the ev's take them out.

Sound or no sound, one thing I forgot to mention, skin it with a knife BEFORE it dies, if you want its fur . Pretty sure if you skin it after it dies you get no fur .

You get fur only from the larger size ones. The color from the east side and west side are different.
