Karma, Color and Confusion

Ok please be aware that I am new to UO (a few months) and this is the first time I've had to deal with negative karma as I have a new mage who uses necromancy. I've read the guide on uoguide.com and also read a bunch of information on Stratics but some of it is old or conflicting and I still have a few questions I'd love to have answered.

1. Is it true that I will only go to the -4 level of karma by casting necromancy spells?

2. Is it true that at -4 level of karma you can still use NPC merchants, and healers?

3. Does having -4 level of karma turn me red? Do I need to use red healers instead of blue? Will I be attacked by guards?

4. Does having -4 level of karma open me up to being attacked by other players in any special way that I wouldn't experience if I had positive karma?

Thank you for any information as I'd like to be prepared, using my new necro, for any trouble.

A new necro I have on Origin had no problems bottoming his karma ... just workig the skills and quests! No issues with NPCs at this point so far.

Red color is only if you kill more 5 or more player characters ... its a designation of a murderer. If you are playing PvM (PvE) it's doubtful this will occur with you.

If you are in Felucca (not Trammel, Ilshenar, Malas or Tokuno) you can be attacked at any time/any color. If you are gray or red in Fel, it is possible someone would attack you.

Sooo, karma does not control color - actions do.

The only thing about having negative karma is that some good Karma monsters (Unicorns,Pixies,Angels) Attack you on sight.


And you an go to level -5 karma with necro spells
