its doesnt "ruin" weapons, at the height of splintering weapon sales there were a few with hit area that sold for like 500mil or something, but yeah hit area is a pain to deal with. if it had higher splinter and hit spell someone would still want it, damage increase is hard to find and needed on kyrsses, but the hit spell and splinter just isnt high enough for what poeple are looking for these days
