Hypothetically speaking, someone picking up a strange bottle may need to taste it to see what's in it, but an alchemist knows what he put in his pestle to make the potion, therefore knows what it should taste like?

I think it would do monster loot a bit of good to have the potions that drop start out a certain non-descript color, then have the Taste ID skill used to identify them and be of all possible types and strengths instead of just the NPC vendor types and strengths.

While it's not a revolution in potions or monster loot, it'd add at least a little bit to the system.

I'm all for making useless skills do something useful, but I don't think changing current systems by adding a junk skill to clutter already overcrowded templates is the way to go. Maybe Taste I.D. can provide something that is not already available.

If the alchemist is purposely adding known ingredients together, why would he or she not know what is being made?
