The name of the overall event cycle is Warriors of Destiny. In this event cycle,
The Prologue of Warriors of Destiny was, basically, the Inu the Crone events, all of which are now seen as leading up to this. This was a pretty long Prologue, during which things happened, such as the Ophidian War and the attacks on the Shrines of Love, that were of undeniable importance.....But at the end of the day it was all really a foreshadow.
Chapter 1 was The Invasion of Magincia. This event featured demonic entities, presumably affiliated with or under the direction of the Shadowlords, physically destroying the City of Magincia.
Chapter 2 was Mad Mage. This event involved Kronos's Blackrock detector finally being built. Due, at least in part, to sabotage from behind the scenes, instead of doing what it was supposed to do, it tore a hole in the fabric of reality, to the Ethereal Void. The Shadowlords and their minions then simply entered the Void, and, from there, entered Britannia.
Chapter 3, which is currently in effect, is The War of Shadows. In this event, the Shadowlords and their minions, now in Britannia proper, physically attack the cities. The structure of the realm as we know it will change, possibly forever.
After this is as of yet unknown.
