Just came back, looking for input on Sampire

Hey all,

Just came back to UO. Things sure have gotten complicated. Been reading up on some of the other threads on sampires, but i need some input as to how to train up my sampire skills on one of my old warriors/bandaid healer. I currently have

100 Swords
100 Parry
100 Tactics
100 Anat
40 Bushido (gonna do the quests in new haven)
40 Necro (gonna do the quests in new haven)
40 Chiv (gonna do the quests in new haven)
88 Healing
70+ Resist

From other threads here, it seems that the normal sampire template is

120 Weapon skill
120 Bushido
120 Parry
100 Tactics
100 Anat/SS/Resist
60 Chiv

My question is which skill (healing, resist, anat to SS) should I drop first to train. I'm afraid if I drop healing i'll have a hard time staying alive because my necro is still low.

I have one soulstone so I was gonna transfer something there..maybe Anat or healing and get Spirit Speak.

Any tips? My plan is to pvm...I want to be a collector of the sorts Any input is appreciated. Been reading on uoguides, and the stratics a lot, but there is so much to this game. I left before all the item properties were a big deal. Like I gotta be looking for LRC and LMC so I heard from another thread here.

The template is pretty cookie cutter. I recently came back as well and am working my necro up.

120 Weapon skill
120 Bushido
120 Parry
100 Tactics
100 Anat
100 Necro (or 99 and give the other 1 to chiv for what it's worth)

Personally, I would recommend just soulstoning healing off if you plan to keep that skill stoned for future use; if you want to just get rid of healing altogether, then I would make a new character to train necromancy up on and transfer it over. It sounds like you're wanting to train necromancy actively while using our sampire, but that'll take a very long time and would be a lot harder.

You won't need/want LRC for your sampire in action, only for training necromancy. It's actually a lot easier to piece a full LRC/LMC suit together than you might think, though, and you'll want to go ahead and get one for that training. Some key items to look for to make this easier are the boomstick, pendant of the magi, and totem of the void. Once you've got your full LRC/LMC suit (keep in mind that LMC caps at 40%), train that necromancy up to 99. If you have that suit, just setup a macro (UOA not needed but makes it easier) to cast whatever spell you're casting for training with a single keypress, and just watch some movies. Total time from 50 to 99 can be done within 10 hours of this, so you could just watch a movie a day for five days and you should be pretty close to done. It's boring, but you'll probably hate yourself less doing it that way than trying to train it actively.

I guess i'll start a new character with necromancer and do that first. I have very low mana on this one right now so that makes it tougher. How much will a LRC and LMC suit cost me, approximately.

Credinus, may I ask how to train with one hotkey? Even after i record the macro, don't i still need to select diferent monsters or do i find a golem or something? Thanks

If you are training necro first, find lots of mana regen and LRC armor. You don't need a lot of mana to start with, it just makes it a little slower. A mana leech weapon will also help a lot. With swords, the soul seeker is a good weapon to start until you find a better one.

I'm training necro right now and used summon familiar from 35 to almost 50, then I used horrific beast until about 75, now from what I understand lich form all the way to GM. I'm currently at 91 and started a couple days ago.

I was going to start a new character. Did u guys train with high INT first?

On my present character (the one i mentioned above), i have very low int..about 29 INT. I read on how to see saw but I still couldn't do it.

If I start a new char, do u guys raise the stats first and then the skills or just go along with it normally.

Stats are pretty easy to raise, i tend to not lock them at the beggining of training. So when im training necro i gain alot of int. That way once its done i can set it to lower but still have a ton of mana to raise bushido(lighting strike constantly) as im training my combat skill. This raises your str and dex up. Pick how much of each you want and when you get there lock them..

Another tip that once you know it seems obvious - if you find armor or jewelry with stat bonuses but it is not what you need (e.g. str versus int), just set your stats up or down to make the adjustment. Don't think of stat bonuses as set in stone, but rather as a stat pool.

Ohhhhhh I didn't realize there was a "raise" "lower" "lock" now next to the stats. I kept thinking skills before.

Guess I'll try to lower my dex/str and work on necro and see if that raises my INT for now instead of starting a new char.

kill some critters or look on vendors for cheap int/mana increase jewels or armor. my mana is usually low but with items i got it up to 85.
